Unknown suppressors OG testing

I agree. I also think integrated suppressor barrels are the future. Most people don’t shoot 10k rounds a year. A IBS that lasted 5-10 years would be fine to most people.

It bothers me that the most affordable IBS’s are for rimfire rifles, which are typically filthy. So far, the center fire versions I have seen are very expensive.

A 3d printed titanium can approximately 24” long and 1.25-1.5” in diameter built around a relatively thin contour 18” .224 steel barrel could theoretically provide excellent suppression and a relatively stiff barrel without an insane weight penalty.

Have a really good idea of what it would weigh… I have an OG that is hub at the start of the reflex so all I really need to do is modify a barrel to get it to go over and use a direct thread adapter!

Awesome, can you share the weight (without DT Hub is fine)?

This is exactly what I was PM'ing you about doing! I even sketched up about what it would look like... It would even double as a full 8" can for shooters that don't want to get a custom barrel cut, so the market for US would be wider. And it doesn't have to be installed by a gunsmith.

For some quick math... this would increase the reflex expansion chamber volume by around 37% over the OG while not changing the form factor and reducing weight. You could shorten the reflex by an inch and achieve the same internal reflex volume as the OG.

Do you have an idea of what something like this would weigh using OG dimensions? I imagine it would greatly increase volume in the reflex.

At this time, i'd agree that most suppressor buyers want standard threads so they can swap a can around but there are getting to be a lot more of us who try to leave a can dedicated to a rifle. I bet my local smith would charge me $150 tops to do a muzzle up that way.
So I'm not the only crazy one out there? In my mind this would be ideal for my 22 creed rokset it on and leave until I burn it down remove get new barrel repeat. Vs the cost of a integrated suppressor barrel each time.

I can understand this way if thinking, but your ears do not care if you are hunting or not.
Agree.
If damage is going to occur, it will during your 1 shot target shooting or your 1 shot hunting.
Guys were speaking of multiple shots and occasional shooting "at the range". To me that's a bit different than 1 or 2 shots while hunting (both aren't smart).
The result is the same.
Regular shooting at "the range" with no ear pro, even suppressed, in my opinion, is much worse than a shot or two while hunting. Again, you are right, both aren't the right answer.
I work around Tons of loud noises all day. I am always on guys to throw in our ear pro. Making it seem like exponentially dumber to do it during practice vs. hunting doesn't make sense to me. They are both easily preventable, if you truly care about every shot being shot with ear pro in.
I think both are pretty dumb haha. I'm slowly getting smarter I suppose? Going to hunt with my Otto's as per @huntnful method this year and see how it goes.

Thanks for taking the time to do this. This is exactly what I was trying to show in my terrible drawing although without the hub mount. I would prefer direct thread.

If I was getting an integrated it would be from SWS Rifles.

The "suppressor" is simply the titanium tube that surrounds the barrel. They can make you as many barrels as you want that utilize the same Ti tube.

I talked to them in the past and at that time they were using Bartlein 5R 1.250" straight barrels and then machining the baffles and final contour

Do the barrels have holes in them? That’s the downside for an integral suppressor in my mind. It would lose velocity as pressure escapes.

There are no holes into the bore of the barrel until the end of rifling/muzzle where they start the baffles. There is no way to lose velocity

They add small holes along the ridges to remove weight out of the barrel

You can do 10" of rifling and 6" of baffles for a 16" overall length barrel and it would NOT be an SBR.

So, you are saying you would wear hearing protection while hunting? Even with a suppressor?

I’m a bit hard of hearing, so I wear electronic plugs while hunting - all the better to hear with, and then provide additional protection with the suppressed shot.

Which brand of electric ear pro care you wearing. Appears I am in need considering the wife bought me wireless headphones for the TV

I have been using TEP200’s but just picked up a set of Axil Pros as they were on sale for 50% off, will use those this season.

Thank you - I do remember reading that.

'Pro' just left me guessing, since they also offer the MX PRO which is OTA/muffs.
