OK guys and gals. I have what my wife calls #whitegirlproblems. :) Here's what's currently in the stable: (I'll leave out the "lightweights and the heavy weights"
  • Gunwerks Helios 6.5 Creedmor
  • Gunwerks Clymr 6.5 PRC
  • Weatherby Back Country Ti 6.5 RPM (ordered)
  • Proof 28 Nosler
  • Gunwerks Clymr 7 LRM
  • Kimber Montana .308
  • Boswell Custom 300 WSM
  • Gunwerks .300 RUM
  • Remington BDL .270 (1978 my first rifle)
  • Browning A Bolt Medallion .243
  • Browing A Bolt Medallion .270
I want to order another Boswell Custom. Thinking either 7mm 08 Akley Improved, .284 Winchester or .280 AI. I'm leaning towards playing around with a 7mm 08 AI. As you can see, I already have most of the bases covered, but if you could add one more custom to the list above, what would it be?

280ai is my vote, absolutely love mine. I’d also suggest looking into the 7mm SAW from West Texas Ordinance. Basically a 7-08ai but you can just resize 7-08 brass with a die, no fire forming required.

.280 AI guys are coming out of the woodwork! I actually have owned a couple .280 AI’s, the most recent was a Bansner Sheep Hunter. (Also had a Kimber Montana, a Kimber Mt. Ascent and a Nosler .280ai) Though I liked them, I always found myself grabbing a different gun. I had an opportunity to sell them and did, but I’ve always been a fan of the caliber.

I also read about "#whitegirlproblems!"

I've had both the 7-08 and .284 (still have one) and have always wanted to play with a .280AI but haven't made the leap. Now I'm teetering between a .280AI and a 6.5PRC...….. so I can't really help you much!

Didn’t you see the title? “Just one more gun, honey”...🤣

You would probably want a long action for a 284 to take advantage of heavy bullets, so get the 284 and the 280 AI, have them spec’d the same, and she would never know 😀

6.5 PRC is definitely one of my favorites!

Just keep practicing your line. "Oh that? I've had that for YEARS........"

Randy

That’s my “go to”...🤣

All are great cartridges.
Couldn't go wrong with any of them so why choose?

What the heck.

Go for one of each!!!!!!!

I explain it to my wife like this: she says, “I thought you were trying to save money?” I say, “if I lock it up in a rifle, I won’t be able to spend it. I’ve never lost money on a gun.”

Complicated but hear me out.

Ummm you don't have any 338s! Clearly you need a few of those!! Edge, RUM, LM... 250gr moving at 3000+fps!

Kota you got the mid caliber stuff totally covered. I don’t see any big(er) bores. I was in a similar position recently (although I do have a .375 HH too) and went with a custom .358 win. Interesting cartridge and hits like a hammer! You have all the long range firepower you need. Your choices seem redundant to me. I’d go a slightly different direction if it were me.

.358 win, .338 fed, .338-06, .35 Whelen. Or if you really wanna be cool and stand out... 9.3x62!

Outside of those, since you seem to like the LR game, how about a .33-378? Or a .375 ultra mag? Go big or go home!
