I'd have a 223ai in 8 twist to shoot all day long and not have my bell rung by noise and blast.....and I can carry about 6 zillion rounds.

As stated in the first post, I left off the big stuff and the small stuff. As far as bigs go, I have a .340 Weatherby Mark V, a Kimber Talkeetna in .375 H&H and a Ruger Semi Custom .375 Ruger. Too many small calibers to list...

It also appears that you’re missing a 1/4 bore from the collection, maybe a fast twist 25-06ai? Would be wicked with the 131 blackjack bullets.

Ahh, I read too fast. All the more reason why a .358 win makes sense. I don’t see any “brush guns”.

A fast twisted .25 Creedmore or a .25-08 (aka 25 Souper) was my first thought when I read the OP. One would make pretty good light recoiling deer medicine.

Man, I’m kind of liking your 7-08ai idea, and that Boswell sure is a beaut Clark!

I know...Can’t believe I’m the only one that voted for it! 😂. Steve Boswell makes a SWEET lightweight rifle. I love my .300 WSM.

Wear out some barrels, then rebarrel existing stuff. I am down to 4 and just keep rebarreling those. Folks just don't shoot enough in my experience.

In the 7mm and .284 range like you’re asking about, it’s really hard to argue with the ballistics performance and energy down field from the 28 Nosler.

Agreed...Mine is a beast and shoots lights out, but it will knock your teeth out. Brake tames it down, but man is it loud With the brake. It just burns a ton of powder And makes a Big Bang. And that’s why it is such a beast downrange.

I use the directional brake (non rotary) and have two of the top screws removed. Even in my lightweight Christensen ridgeline I find it to not have too bad of recoil. It is louder than all get out though.

You’ve got enough fast stuff that burns lots of powder. I vote 7/08 AI (284 second choice, depending on what brass headaches you want) and shoot 162 class bullets because you’ll actually enjoy shooting it compared to your magnums. Basically get creedmoor type ballistics with a little more ass. Do it in a medium action. Less recoil, shorter action, and a bigger difference from the LRM and 28nos you already have compared to 280AI.

Kota you got the mid caliber stuff totally covered. I don’t see any big(er) bores. I was in a similar position recently (although I do have a .375 HH too) and went with a custom .358 win. Interesting cartridge and hits like a hammer! You have all the long range firepower you need. Your choices seem redundant to me. I’d go a slightly different direction if it were me.

.358 win, .338 fed, .338-06, .35 Whelen. Or if you really wanna be cool and stand out... 9.3x62!

Outside of those, since you seem to like the LR game, how about a .33-378? Or a .375 ultra mag? Go big or go home!

I was thinking exact same thing..,! I voted 7 08 cause I did.

I would also echo a mid bore, 338 w, 338 fed, 35 w, 350 rm or 358 w can all be had in the type mountain rigs I assume you run.

35 caliber, 22” barrel with 225 partion at say 2775 FPS is formidable.

Recoil impulse is so different too 😊

With that lineup, I'd go 7x57 or 6.5x55, woodstocked with a 4x or 6x. Kind of old school meets new school with cerakote and modern optic. I'd even do iron sights and QD rings.
