ULUL Stainless/Portless 6x45 16" AR15 Barrel Group Buy NOW CLOSED

I use .240 as a smooth bore. It averages out. I did however fat finger 1 dimension so I had .425 before the threads. Adjusted I come up with 19.35oz to the above drawing. Honestly I think it would be about perfect but if you drop the .625” after the chamber down to .600” it comes just under 19oz.

Is the 16.5” ovarall length actually overall or is that breech face to muzzle? Typical 16” barrels are usually 16.4-16.5” overall. My cad model of such adjusted to the above drawing comes out just over 16oz. My software is usually very very close. I did it real quick before taking off to run kids around but I will play more with the model later.
I wouldn't think it would hit 16 oz unless, maybe, copying the BCA profile. The Shaw is 17.7 or so, so if it were a close copy of that would be just a bit more than that. Still, very lightweight, regardless.

Yep, fat fingered one dimension. Updated above

I wanted in but was not sure it was going to happen so I have Mos Tec order me a 6x45 Ackley reamer and they have agreed to make me a Ackley barrel so I am out sorry

Did you program in a straight taper to 0.525 at the end? If so, try tapering from 0.625' to 0.52' @ 8" and 0.52" for the remaining 8". Should be right around 19oz, maybe a bit less?

How much will that barrel run you? I still have a 6x45 AI/6 TCU in the back of my head as the optimum chambering for these. For now though, I won't pass up this one, at this price.

He has not priced it yet but I am thinking about taking StupidLightWeights advice and get a 12 inch barrel he said reamer would cost me around 200.00

Couple grains of powder and maybe 50 fps. This wont require fire forming, but TCU wont require much trimming.

I SUSPECT the 6x45 tapered case will feed and extract better in the Solo...

I don't think there really is any difference. Pretty sure 6x45 AI / 6 TCU end up pretty much being the same, but not positive. Like @PistolPete said, "normal" 6x45 is definitely the easier route. I doubt I'd pass on this even if I had a 6x45 AI.

List updated - we made it!

I'll leave it open for another day or 2, but then once the list is all paid, it's go time.

I have a 6 x 45 Caliber port less barrel

you can rent the 6x45ai reamer from 4d reamers and punch this barrel if it suited you.

Some advice to satern - these aren’t going to war. Leaving the barrel extension torqued to an amount that the user can remove it with basic tools would be really nice. That way if someone wants to make changes to the extension, or the chamber, they can.

@Taudisio @C Bow do you know the oal of the 6x45/vmax in your chamber touching the lands?

Brings up a good point - how much freebore does a 95 TMK need, seated at 2.37" in a windowed mag? That seems like the optimal setup for these guns, but I don't have any 95s.

I’ll look back at my notes on the TMK. but everyone should assume those bullets won’t come available anytime soon. Sierra is not listening.

They’re going to be off the lands a long ways at 2.37

With the tmk’s being unavailable, what would be the go to for elk? Maybe the 90 eld-x? Trying to decide why I need one of these in addition to my 223. 6mm is minimum caliber here in OR so it could be fun. The only rifle hunting I do for elk is the occasional spike only hunt. My girls kill elk with a 6.5 Grendel gasser and I am super happy with that setup.

OP, do we know if these will be cnc turned? I would assume so. Reason I ask is because I modeled the barrel a couple different ways including a large radius/filet between the chamber and main barrel. I also played with straight taper to .500” as well as taper to .525” 6” from muzzle then straight .525”. The radius at the chamber will help stiffen the barrel. The above 2 options plus that radius ends up right at or just slightly under 19oz. The Shaw essentially goes from .600 to .500 then straight for the final 6” or so, and has a large radius at the chamber. I can send over 2d drawings in both a jpeg image as well as a dxf file that Saturn could pull into their own software.

Also, I assume these will be their 5r rifling? I have one of their 22” fluted barrels on my daughters Grendel as well as one I did for a friend and both shoot awesome. Those barrels came from Grendel Hunter.
