Ultralight Ultralight Rifles

My favorite no-nonsense optic for this year is the Burris Fullfield 3-12 w/ Ballistic E3 reticle. It matches perfectly to the factory 108 and 105 6mm ARC out of my 16" gun (2500 and 2600fps, respectively) out to 400yds w/ a ~150yd zero. I would think the 6x45 would be similar with the 87gr at 2700-2800fps or the 105 at 2500-2600fps. It's obviously a little heavier than the SWFA or any of the 3x/5x Pprisms, but you get 12x of usable magnification and really clear glass. I don't know how they did it, but the 3-12 weighs as much as the 2-8 and 2.5-10 Fullfields if their online specs are correct. Their "Connect" app is also pretty easy to use once you get the hang of it. I wish Strelok was still an option; that was my absolute favorite tool to use.

I have a 2-7 Burris Fullfield II that weighs 12oz with ballistic plex reticle.

I’m one of those guys who has an iPhone tied to my work so I’ve never been able to get Strelock to work. Could you look at the 87gr v max going 2600 and 2640 and see how power lines up?
According to Strelock (should be pretty good ballpark):
At 2,600, 1.7" high @ 100Y and 7.5x lines you up pretty well out to at least 450Y

At 2640, 1.6" high @ 100Y and 8x lines up out as far (just squeaks by as 8x is about as far as I think that scope is easily usable)

Got a nice Coues buck with my .223 ULUL at 400 yards. I was holding for the neck/shoulder juncture in hopes of an immediate drop, as most of the exit options for this buck were going to make for a painful and lengthy recovery. Shot landed a little right onto the neck, so it worked out. Recovered the bullet in the offside skin, then forgot it on a rock next to my pack :(

The terrain was pretty steep and rocky, and I packed my camp back a ways carrying water, so I was glad to have the light rifle for this hunt.
