Ultralight Rear Bag

Personally I like the bag not because I use it to make shots I might not without but it’s something that nearly eliminates my wobble, which has allowed me to focus on making a good trigger press. Something Iv struggled to do in the past.

That and it seems to make spotting shots easier.

Both work great and they are solid. One could use almost anything ..........I listened to a podcast the other day where the sheep hunter used his jetboil.

If 2.5 ounces for our lightest rear bag, is too much, a jetboil seems like a reasonable option.

I am just gonna second @Lawnboi again. Having the right tool makes everything easier and increases my confidence.

You should try the Triple S out. It makes a great glassing pad and takes up zero space. I’ve used it as a front and rear bag at different times. For 7 oz it does a ton.

I think @hereinaz does refunds for Rokslide members if you don’t like it.

I’ve seen an example where a rear bag was sewn and then stuffed with game bags yielding the dual purpose.

That’s what I use. Except it’s not a dead bag sewn and stuffed with game bags. It’s just a bag of game bags.

I got the Tony Bag of donuts that is able to clip to pack. Weighs 7 oz (which I thot was a lot till I bought and used / it’s good for the small adjustments or big adjustments)

There are lots of good options out there. I agree that Git Lite is the bomb. We use it in a lot of bags.

For the ultralight stuff, we are using a more expensive but much better fill than the typical stuff we have seen in other bags. It doesn’t compress down like the white beads do. It is lighter too.

It’s one reason our ultralight bag is —2.5 ounces—filled.

Try it in a different bag before you empty your game changer.

A bag of cloth is nothing like a bag of fill. Honestly, just get a cheap zipper bag from the dollar store or Walmart.

To each his own, but a Pint sized GC with git-lite is well worth the weight for me. Like has been mentioned it is not a one trick pony. I don't use a bipod, so I just figure it replaces that.

I find this is the difference, if shooters have had experience with the versatility of a good bag, it can replace the bipod. And, the other is as @Lawnboi said having a bag makes confidence higher as it becomes part of shooting in every situation to improve stability.

Then, the weight of the bag as part of the rifle system is no more than a guy who uses a bipod and jet boil.

When it comes to front and rear support, nothing beats a bag. If you are just trying to reach out to 300, maybe 400 you can use a lot of things already in your bag, or nothing at all.

Like @Lawnboi said, I am there to kill so I don’t skimp on killing gear. You can use all sorts of stuff, but if you aren’t practicing with your bag filled with game bags at the range, you shouldn’t count on the same precision and accuracy.

I have played with all sorts of options, and nothing is better pound for pound than a bag filled with Git-lite as a rear bag. Our waxed flat and waxed mini are the two best options for serious back country hunters.

I just ordered that ultralight bag like 2 minutes ago. Looking forward to it.
