When the land and water conservation fund was passed last month, there was supposedly a measure added that requires anyone who sues the government over issues like this must make their reimbursement for legal fees public.
Apparently, this was added to hopefully make it less appealing to sue the government.
Guess we'll see for sure. At the very least, it will be interesting to see how rich these attorneys are getting on the backs of taxpayers.

Surprises me more how oblivious people are to the fact that this is happening.

Looks like we’ll be able to comment on the proposal once it is published in the Federal Register.

We need to work on spreading the word to sportsmen to get a big push behind this.

I can’t believe it but the wolf lover group they interviewed for the article said this would be a death sentence for wolves. REALLY? They can’t actually believe that. Do they really think the fish and game would let people hunt them to the brink of extinction after all this work and money to establish healthy populations of wolves. Either they’re lying to try to get support or they don’t have any common sense. I don’t know which one is better...

It doesn't matter if they believe it. In fact, they most certainly do not. They are trying to elicit an emotional response from those who are disconnected from reality.
Facts do not matter to these people. And they know it. That is why there is never any kind of reasonable discussion about it.
These high profile cases of wolves and grizzlies most certainly drives up their fundraising efforts because they can put a face on what they claim is happening. "Poor fluffy animals are in danger of being slaughtered to extinction by hunters if you don't donate now!"
All so they can host their high-dollar fundraising banquets for their opportunity to bump elbows with celebrities, while at the same time, doing absolutely nothing for animals, habitat or conservation. Its a scam.

Let's hope the effort is successful. My state of MN has more wolves than all western states combined. Whenever an attempt is made to control their numbers the metro wolf lovers throw a fit and courts halt forward movement. In recent years our moose hunts have been canceled because of crashing moose numbers. Biologist blamed global warming, no mention of the 3000 wolves in MN. Not sure everyone bought the explanation.

We are seeing a stagnating moose population here in upper Michigan. Not the crashes like you guys in MN have seen but it appears that some type of climate change is contributing to that as well as predation. Hopefully state management of wolves will give the moose a chance to get a boost.

Ours might be a 2 (or 3) part problem. Wolves, yes we have lots and they have gone unmanaged since 2014? when we last had a season. I say 3000 is a conserative estimation. Climate change, sure...I can see the logic there just not sure I’d say that’s a major factor. We, typically, here more about the disease they get that makes them go “crazy” (sorry, the name is slipping me at the moment) where the DNR then puts them down if they wander far enough south in the state. Lastly and given the above, moose are still being hunted year and year in decent numbers (considering our total population of them). The first and last point I feel are going to more or less eliminate our population, the wolves just helping to speed that up exponentially.

I hope we see a season again, but I agree 100% the second it even gets mentioned of a possibility every billboard within 100 miles of the cities will have a picture of a bloodied up wolf in a snare or foot hold trap. I’m guessing it’s a 1% chance we see a season in the next 20years 🙁
