Is it possible to adjust ata/timing/sync without a press?

How anal should I be about tiller tuning?

How much cam lean at rest should a 2012 hoyt vector turbo have?

How long does it typically take you guys from restring to being in tune?

Darin cooper posted an awesome video on here a while ago, if you find it , I believe it will answer a lot of your questions.

Yes you can. Its best if you have someone help you with this however. Much easier to do.

With a parallel limb bow I wouldn't even worry about it at all.

There are a few factors that will influence how much cam lean you will need. Front hand grip, arrow set up, and rest. All of these will affect the top cam lean.

I can have my bow restrung, in spec, timed, and initially tuned in about 1.5 hours or less.

I looked and couldn't find it.

How do you do it without a press?

My arrows are CE maxima red 350 with 100 grain rage.

Google is your friend.

Doesn't the string need twisted/untwisted too?

String with adjust the brace height. May affect the ATA a tiny amount, but the new threads should be that far off from factory. Also max your limbs out to set to factory specs then back off to desired draw weight.

I've never done this kind of adjustment on my own, I've always had a shop handy but things have changed somewhat and I'd prefer to learn to diy anyway.

I've been reading through that. It's very thorough, somewhat overwhelming thpugh

That's what I thought too at first. I just took pictures of everything before I changed anything so I had something to fall back on. Once I started playing around with it I got more confidence. I bought a portable bow press to use for $50.

I would leave the string alone. Make your adjustments with the Buss and Control cables. You can really fine tune draw length with the string but I woudln't try to adjust anything else with it.

How far is your ATA off? It doesn't need to be exact just close. If you are hitting peak weight, cams are synched and the specs are close then don't try to get things exact.

Ata is 3/16 long
Brace is 3/32 short
Tiller is 1/16 longer on the top than on bottom

I have not adjusted anything since it was restrung ~2 weeks ago so everything is set as it was at the shop.

Those would be close enough for me. How's it shooting?

You can get to a point real quick where you are chasing your tail trying to get them too close. You then end up at a point where nothing is right and you can't fix it without taking the string and cables off and re-twisting them to spec lengths and starting over.

If you want them closer then put a twist or two in the Buss Cable. If you cams are synched then youll need to take the same number out of the control cable or you will change that.
