Either there is some bad information, or he's talking out of both sides of his mouth, because a few weeks ago, he said he would do everything in his power to protect public lands.

I think it's a combination of he doesn't know what he's doing and talking out both sides of his mouth. He wants to give the Japanese and South Koreans nukes and let them duke it out with the North and China. Don't think he understands that sh!t effects everyone including us. He seems to just be saying whatever he thinks the person interviewing him along with their audience wants to hear. The problem is that the general public doesn't want to be bothered with facts.

The way I read it he was talking about using the resources we have that are on lands we own. Big difference between that and selling them off. Way more profitable for the govt to use the resources than to sell outright. Who knows? You think any of them are honest? Besides, the quotes were attributed to one of his staff members. He'll be called on the carpet for it soon enough. Makes more sense for us to drill our own oil here from a strategic perspective than to count on fickle muslim countries for our supply, or South American countries. My .02

Facts? Those have no place in an emotions based argument :)

As someone that works in the industry of selling petroleum, its not true that we get most of our oil from Islamic or South American companies. I will grant you that OPEC definitely controls the price of gas but we get 1/3 of our imported gas from Canada. If memory serves, our #1 gas supplier is actually us. And #3 for our imports is Mexico. So out of our top 4 suppliers of gas, only one is Islamic or S. American, Saudi Arabia, one of our allies that "likes" us.

"Likes" is too strong of a word. "Tolerates" would be more apt. As usual, I overlooked our neighbors to the north.

He panders to whoever he thinks will benefit him. If you care about public lands, Trump and Cruz are not your friend.

At this point who is? Bernie is the only one who I've seen come out strongly for public land preservation. I don't know kasichs stance, and not sure it really matters as I doubt he stands a chance at this point.

One thing is for sure Bernie is definitely all about the public.. Open land to the public.. Open health insurance to the public... Opening my bank account to the public.. Socialism... Because it works stupendously every where else.

Even if you plan to vote Republican but support public lands, please let your chosen candidate know. Trump and Cruz (and any Republican) take the hunting vote for granted because they have an R by their name. Public lands, public hands. If you aren't a member of BHA, here is a good report that I feel destroys the position of public land transfer advocates:

I'm ashamed that these are what the US is offering as our leader. Most of my friends from other countries say the general consensus is their countrymen consider the US presidential race a laughing stock right now.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. As long as congress spends money with no regards to our debt, our public lands are in jeopardy. Whether the feds control them or the states control them, they WILL eventually be sold off (or re-possessed by our debtors). I choose to support candidates who will concentrate on the debt problem rather than those who promise to keep lands in federal ownership...

if you have had a chance to listen to the podcast where Trump Jr talks with Jay Scott about his passion for the outdoors and his love for backpack hunting/fly fishing. He specially says that he and his brother have been in their dads ear about leaving public lands as they are. In fact, he goes on to say he wanted to be department of interior. I had no idea Trump Jr moved to Aspen after college to tend bar and fish/backpack for over a year.

Based on that podcast, this feels like a big lie to me....

Anyhow, I think we have someone has out POV close to Trump The Clown. They are ALL clowns.

Why? He's a businessman and from a business standpoint it makes sense to liquidate assets to pay off debt.

Sure, let's just sell off land to the Chinese that we'll never get back for pennies on the dollar to reduce the federal debt instead of fixing the underlying GDP and spending issues! That makes a ton of sense! Sadly that's exactly how most politicians think too.
