Haven't read the whole thread... But those blue cubes fit PERFECTLY in square milk crates. Protects them and makes a great stand. I recently got a water port brand pressurized container for free but it just doesn't seem worth it to bring and deal with.

Visit your local car wash and ask for a 30 gallon plastic drum. They typically hold detergent for the car wash. Couple of rinsing and they are good to go.
PS: They also make great gas containers. People in the Alaska bush use them as gas tanks on their boats.

The water tastes pretty bad after sitting in those Sceptor jugs. My daughter won't even drink it.
I took 2 on a 5 day river trip and nobody commented on the water out of my Sceptor jugs. It was fine. Interesting for sure. I had used them at deer camp prior to that and they were great too. I wonder if mine are more "broken in."

We drink out of my buddy’s Scepter every fall for years and I can tell the taste but not near as bad as my new one. I definitely prefer to filter a bunch when I get to camp and keep it in my Rotopax.

Here is the final setup. I’m pleased with how it turned out. When I make the second tank, I’ll make the 3/4 npt stub shorter where it comes from the tank to connect to the valve for more rigidity.
Great water flow and nice to have almost 9 gallons of water. It fits flush with the wheel well, so very streamlined.
