I’ve been a trigger release shooter forever, however, I’m considering trying a thumb release just to experiment, no other reason really. Would like some recommendations on thumb releases.

I’ve seen those that have straps similar to trigger releases and thought that might be a good starting point.

How different is the draw? Gripping the release vs relying on the strap pulling against your wrist. Seems like you better have good grip strength and hope it doesn’t fail.

I’m a total newb in this arena so any releases you can recommend would be great.

I went to the bow shop and asked to try them all, still ended up with a handful of them over the past few years

I've shot a T.R.U. Ball Rave thumb release for the last two years and I love it. I bought a T.R.U. Ball Neast XT hybrid wrist release a few weeks back and just can not get used to it. Im going to keep trying but the draw and hold feels very weird on the wrist release. I feel like I have much better leverage pulling back with my my thumb release and I feel much more confident with my hold and getting into back tension with the thumb release.

If coming from a wrist release I would highly a thumb release that either has some sort of wrist strap or tether or can accept one. I've heard nightmares of people letting their handheld releases slip from their hands on accident.

SpotHogg Wiseguy is a good place to start. Inexpensive, quality release. I changed and it improved my shooting. My biggest problem was not holding hard against the back wall and having a couple misfires with no damage fortunately.
