Triathlon/Marathon/Endurance Sports Thread

Dang, good luck with that. Post up what you do! I ran my only marathon so far in 2012 when I was 29. Was hitting 8:47/mile until mile 20.... then my right foot started hurting awful. Ended up walking and trying to jog for 6 miles and finished with 5:05. To my lasting shame. Swore I knew I could finish under 4 but wasn't in a hurry, then life happened here I am in my mid 40s. Lord willing it will happen in June!

Good luck! Let us know how it goes

Did my first ultramarathon in December. 33 mile trail race. Despite the fact I’ve ran several marathons (including one about 4 weeks before this race) I got my butt kicked!!!

It turned into more of fast hike than a run. Very technical trail in many places and had over 7k elevation gain. Vast majority of my training had been on the road so it was definitely a challenge.

Thinking of getting back into the triathlon scene this summer/fall. Probably do a couple sprints and an Oly this year. Maybe a 70.3 in late October?? Haven’t fully committed yet. Training for the bike portion is difficult as I have no good places to ride and the thought of being on indoor trainer for hours makes me want to jump into traffic.

Yes - trail ultra runs are a different beast - “run” is used very loosely! Even the elites may hike around 1/2 of the long ultras. “Footrace” maybe a better term.

Good work!
