Ok so if I had to slim down my collection and choose a core group...

My shotgun
.223 bolt gun
.22 rifle
For my deer rifle, probably my 6.5 PRC. It's kind of in the middle of all of my guns as far as power. I could probably do everything with it just fine.
.40 Pistol

That's just for me. Then I have guns for my wife, two daughters and for when I have friends visit. So in reality, I "need" every gun I've got.

Anyone who has “40cal” is either over 55 or sensitive to ammo shortages. I don’t think 40cal is ever in demand anymore. 😆

1. 30-06
2. AR (Pistol setup or whatever floats your boat). Multiple uppers in 5.56, 22lr, 300BO.
3. Glock 9mm.
4. Whatever Is your flavor of fun.

Bonus Points:
1911 in 45acp
Magnum wheel guns
3k rounds per caliber.

So I was talking to my wife and the topic of why do you need so many guns came up. I danced around the subject as well as any gun owner does but the thought crossed my mind.

In all reality a person only needs 4.
1. 30-06 from any manufacture in the $7-800 range (Tikka, Bergara, Remington before chapter 11, Winchester etc)
2. 12GA any reliable manufacture
3 .22lr Ruger 10-22.
4. 9mm (Glock 19 or maybe a Sig 320 carry)

Argue for or against and feel free to flame on.

This post made me so mad I sprayed coffee all over my keybroos und now crant schpell.

Edit: ok, got the keyboard all cleaned up. How many? All of them, that’s how many.

I think I’ve posted this before but I’ll do it again. It’s a simple trick.

Me- “buying a new gun.”

Wife- “I thought that last one you bought was your last one?”

Me- “It was the last one that I bought. This one will be the last one, I promise.”

If all else fails, remind her that you are “investing”.

My wife, who is under 35, has the 40 cal in the house. She says 9mm is for #@$*$, but the 45 ACP is too fat for easy concealment. She also drinks peated scotch neat, smokes cigars, and listens to metal. So, don't take her opinion of the 9mm personal. :ROFLMAO:

My wife once asked me the same question. I put her question to rest for good by asking her a question, "Why do you have so many shoes and purses?"

It was a pirrhic victory, since she was pretty angry with me, but she never did question me on owning guns.

God, when I die please don’t let my wife sell my guns based on how much she thinks I paid for them.

So as you can laugh at my expense.

Be careful with this site. I tried something similar and my wife pointed out the thousands I have spent on boots and packs and offered to do the math on who has spent more on "purses and shoes."

I should be ok, my wife owns over 100 pairs of shoes and her purses cost as much as some of my guns

4 guns isn't even a good start. Like post #5 said, but my wife has, only god knows how many purse. She has never asked about why I need so many guns, but has bought me several.
