Tikka romance confessions wanted

This "Peckerhead" wines and dines his Tikka, she wears a very large stone with incredible clarity. At home alone, that is often all she wears.

I could go on and on, but I get to a more serious note. Like others here, I have a real shooter, in short, below sub MOA. However, in my NSHO, my Tikka is a no frills highly functional rifle. Frankly, I beat the crap out of it, and after at least a couple decades, it still shoots, well perfectly; that there is true romance brothas.

i like my tikkas. not a huge fan of the short mags but there's a way around that. action is smoother than most, trigger is great, barrel is good for factory and it's lite weight.

i have some expensive rifles and keep going back to my tikkas. that said, if you like the tikka action that much you can find a sako for about the cost of a cabela's camo stocked t3x. or pony up on a fierce.

Yes, it has become quite common to see used larger caliber Tikkas (.300 WM, 7mmMag, even '06) for sale. Cabelas gun library always has a few. I think you're correct about the reason because I bought a brand new T3x in 30-06 and by the time I worked up full power 180 grain loads, I was sick of shooting the thing. So I dropped back to the 7mm-08 and never looked back.

Guilty as well, my 7 mag is hard to shoot. I find my 6.5 creedbro way easier to shoot as much as I hate myself for buying one.

No shame there. The Creedbro is a very effective hunting round.
I bought that '06 with the intent to build hot 180-grain loads for elk. At just under 7 lbs., that rifle started causing me to flinch and as soon as I recognized that I sold it and bought the 7mm-08. I would rather be accused of being a wuss than to be accused of being a poor shot because I flinch. That's not something I'll accept. Accuracy trumps power in the hunting scenarios, and a 162-grain ELD-X leaving the tube at 2680 still has more energy than I need at the distances I'm willing to shoot a live animal.

Yep exactly the same scenario for me , Id find myself flinching so bad id miss the target a 100 yards. Swore up and down it was the gun . Accidentally left the safety on once or twice and it started to click it was me .

‘06 is about as far as I wanna go on a 7# Tikka. Maybe try that Air Cell Limbsaver.

I was shooting a 6-3/4 #270 Kimber Montana side by side with 8.5# M70. Same ammo. Kimber was way more comfortable to shoot. Kevlar vs. Tupperware.

It’s not always the chambering and flinching is curable.

Yup. I cured it with a real nice stainless 7mm-08 T3. :D

Ha! Well, that’s one way. 😆

The other is to shoot “through” the recoil as a part of the process. It’s like expecting cross hairs to be perfectly still and fighting the movement instead of squeezing through it.

Present tense shooting instead of past tense.

I was just giving yall shit. Tikka makes damn good guns, if I was in the market for a new gun that's probably what I'd go for and be a proud Peckerhead

It’s amazing what that limb saver does on the tikka as well. Even on the milder cartridges it’s well appreciate

For sure... I would say it reduces felt recoil by maybe 30-40 percent. I shoot pretty warm 180s in my 06 and it's a significant improvement.

Do you feel like you get a solid “weld” with the Limbsaver or is it kinda mushy?

I have a new fancy air saver and the older limbsaver. Both feel solid to me at the shoulder. It's easily a 20% reduction in felt recoil. I do feel a better stock has a similar reduction.

I put one on my 7 rem mag, still rattles my brain when I shoot it . I honestly didnt notice a difference .
