Tikka is Suomi for "Woodpecker"
Can we start referring to Tikka fans as Peckerheads?
Yes, it has become quite common to see used larger caliber Tikkas (.300 WM, 7mmMag, even '06) for sale. Cabelas gun library always has a few. I think you're correct about the reason because I bought a brand new T3x in 30-06 and by the time I worked up full power 180 grain loads, I was sick of shooting the thing. So I dropped back to the 7mm-08 and never looked back.
No shame there. The Creedbro is a very effective hunting round.Guilty as well, my 7 mag is hard to shoot. I find my 6.5 creedbro way easier to shoot as much as I hate myself for buying one.
Yep exactly the same scenario for me , Id find myself flinching so bad id miss the target a 100 yards. Swore up and down it was the gun . Accidentally left the safety on once or twice and it started to click it was me .No shame there. The Creedbro is a very effective hunting round.
I bought that '06 with the intent to build hot 180-grain loads for elk. At just under 7 lbs., that rifle started causing me to flinch and as soon as I recognized that I sold it and bought the 7mm-08. I would rather be accused of being a wuss than to be accused of being a poor shot because I flinch. That's not something I'll accept. Accuracy trumps power in the hunting scenarios, and a 162-grain ELD-X leaving the tube at 2680 still has more energy than I need at the distances I'm willing to shoot a live animal.
Yup. I cured it with a real nice stainless 7mm-08 T3.‘06 is about as far as I wanna go on a 7# Tikka. Maybe try that Air Cell Limbsaver.
I was shooting a 6-3/4 #270 Kimber Montana side by side with 8.5# M70. Same ammo. Kimber was way more comfortable to shoot. Kevlar vs. Tupperware.
It’s not always the chambering and flinching is curable.
It’s amazing what that limb saver does on the tikka as well. Even on the milder cartridges it’s well appreciate
I have a new fancy air saver and the older limbsaver. Both feel solid to me at the shoulder. It's easily a 20% reduction in felt recoil. I do feel a better stock has a similar reduction.Do you feel like you get a solid “weld” with the Limbsaver or is it kinda mushy?
I had one on that '06. I'm just a recoil wuss I guess. LOLIt’s amazing what that limb saver does on the tikka as well. Even on the milder cartridges it’s well appreciate
