Also sounds like two of you prefer the shorter barrel and another wishes the 24" was actually a 26". Any other insights on those suggestions?

I wanted the longer barrel for a little extra speed. The 24 is working just fine for me tho.

I just got my second Tikka. I love them, like a lot.
Things I love about them:
Very lightweight action
Short bolt throw
Actions are generally perfect from the factory(no truing needed)
Action is smooth as silk
Very good trigger

Wasn't sure how much more zip 2 or 4" would get on a 6.5 CM... recalled that article from Wide Open Spaces below, though can't say whether length would move the needle on accuracy or velocity for these setups (and what the trade off on weight/size might be).

I really liked my tikka 270. Just didn't care for the bullet selection. The ergos, action, and trigger were muy bien.

I'm not sure how much benefit the extra 2" or 4" is but I figure it only helps. Mine is 6.5x284, not a creedmoor.

I don't mind the extra length. Its pretty short compared to my other gun I usually pack. Its got a 28" barrel plus brake.

Thanks... funny how 6.5s been around for quite a while before CM took such a hold.

I don't like them even a little. I have went to the gun shop several times and handled a bunch of them. They are just not for me.

OK I know I totally encouraged a dumpster fire a few pages ago on this thread, but does anyone have experience with the comparison between Tikkas and Sako A7s? Specifically, this dude

1:10 twist won’t do any favors with either if you’re wanting to shoot high BC bullets. No experience with Sako...I’m told I can’t even pronounce it correctly. 😆

A Tikka rifle is like a car that starts every time you turn the key. The overwhelming amount of non-issues from them can easily go unnoticed. Until you've had rifles that have demonstrated annoying little peccadilloes, it's easy to overlook a fundamentally well designed tool like your apt to find in the Tikka stable.

Great options in a tikka for a accurate light rifle, and options to go lighter, for not bad $$. My t3 Swede has a fluted 20” tube, wildcat stock, and a z3 3-9. Ends up at 6 1/2 lbs loaded with 3 rounds. I couldn’t imagine packing a longer rifle anymore.

Comparing my z3 3-9x36 with a couple vx3’s, the swarvo does take the cake. Another great ad on is the yodave trigger spring, $20 on eBay iirc, definitely complimented my rifle.

I’m with this man right here. At first I didn’t care much for them but they are just a no nonsense, reliable tool that works perfectly every time and no BS. It’s one of my hunting items that I don’t pay much attention to as I know it will be ready to perform when called upon.
