I use a pachmeyer decelerator. I think it helps but I'm dumb enough I don't really feel recoil in my 30-06

Put a muzzle brake on my Tikka T3 300 WSM. Awesome lightweight, accurate rifle that kicks like a mule. Brake was the ticket. I carry earplugs around my neck while hunting so I don't go stone cold deaf.

I had one on that '06. I'm just a recoil wuss I guess. LOL

Same here. My 30-06 is tough to handle for me even with the limbsaver. I know tons of people use lightweight rifles in 30-06 and up, but I’m trying to avoid a flinch and will likely sell it and either get a heavier rifle or a Tikka in a lighter caliber. Shooting lightweight rifles is a real skill.

Send me a PM if you sell. I have a buddy might be interested.

That’s why you need a matching one in 223!

I have a handful of Tikkas that shoot. 20180531_210942.jpg
That's 12 in a row from my 7mmRM.20180521_213838.jpg
Here's 5 from my 30-0620190317_133355.jpg
There's 6 from my 6.5CM Superlite at 500yds.20190609_115306.jpg
That's 1,2,3 from my 20" CTR in 6.5CM at 670yds. (Handloads)20190609_152725.jpg
That's 15 from the CTR. 8 of the handloads (continuation of previous pic) and 7 rounds of bulk American Gunner 140gr. at 670.20190616_114707.jpg
Here's 5 of the American Gunner bulk ammo at 100. 20190416_190639.jpg
....and the zero check on the CTR.

Any one had a bad Tikka? Did their CS make it right?

I have two and they both shoot great. Can’t say the same about my Remmys or other long guns I have owned or shot.

Alright, too much target porn for me to handle - I'm going in. I'd like a lighter gun with stainless bbl in 6.5 CM (I have a couple 6.5 rifles, like the bullet, have dies etc). From the Tikka website it looks like these are the offerings.

Let me know if any of you sharpshooters have any inkling on which model to grab. Near as I can tell, the weights are a wash and only noticeable differences will be the +2" bbl on one model, or camo stock on another.

Also happy to take suggestions on a lightweight scope. Sounds like Leopold and Swaro are the two names I see often in the lightweight game.

Will call my FFL pal before the week is out.

22” non fluted. Not a fan of flutes on the SL. Personal preference, nothing more. Leupold M8 6x42 and LW’s only because I like the scope and modified the rings. 7#2oz.

Not a Creed, 30-0ld man...

When I buy another Tikka in 6.5 CM, not that I need it, I will get a standard lite stainless. I will promptly cut it down to 20 inches and have a really nice compromise between the 24.3 superlite and the heavier CTR that I have. I'd be willing to bet it will shoot the 143 or 147 just north of 2700fps with RL26 with great accuracy.

I’m 5 of 5 on tikkas/Sakos shooting right out of the box. Good triggers, smooth actions, relatively light, affordable, and not picky about ammo. What’s not to like?

I’ve had a howa 1500, Winchester 70, and Ruger m77. All of them took considerable load development and still couldn’t shoot with the tikkas. Needless to say, I no longer own any of them.

Sure, tikka prices may have gone up, but the extra cost is certainly worth the peace of mind in knowing the gun will be accurate and I won’t have to spend tons of money slinging lead down range during load development.

It’s not a love affair, I just have no tolerance for crappy triggers and guns that aren’t accurate.

Tikka makes a nice rifle, especially for the money, even more so when they could be had for under 400 dollars....shit even more so 2 summers ago when they could be had for 600.00 all day long before they numbed their prices.

it’s a scaled down trg22, they are almost always accurate out of the box.

that being said, I have a few and while I like them, I don’t really love them. They shoot but I’ve never really warmed up to them.

I pretty much feel the same way. I only have one (T-3 lite), and it’s very accurate and dependable, but it’s on the heavy side for a light wt. rifle, the stock is crap IMO, and I just can’t seem to grow an attachment to it. I have several other mountain rifles that are just as accurate and dependable, but are also a fair amount lighter, have much nicer stocks, and are much more aesthetically pleasing IMO.

My Remington Model Seven action is way smoother than the 2 Tikkas I hunted with recently. Both of the Tikka triggers had a lot of creep in them, as well. Poor form and function on top of the unpleasant looks is enough for me to never buy one.

I bought one in 270 WSM 15 years ago when I was in college. I got a screaming deal on it. I want to say about $300.00 after some in-store rebates. That gun has been so good to me that it's still the only rifle that I own. I've taken the heads off grouse with it and killed a bull moose and pretty much everything in between. I do not like the safety at all, but other than that have zero complaints. I will likely never own another rifle myself. When my kids are old enough to hunt I will get them something with a better safety but I'm sure I'll still be carrying my same gun with a smile on my face. When it comes to guns, I really just want something that's accurate and dependable. It doesn't need to be flashy. The Tikka fits the bill perfectly.
