Tikka mags: Orange, 223, flush, etc. project / future product

If the springs work like factory ones they could be used with those ones too.

Possibly I’m for (4) of these depending on function and price.

The 2.55 of Tikka length is probably sufficient as the arc is designed around ar mag lengths. However the fatter case provides less case head presentation in a 223 spec mag. A lil wider feed lip would likely be better for the bolt to have more case head to purchase on. This is just speculation on seeing photos of guys showing the arc cases in 223 mags.

Agreed - an ARC mag would be great.

I’d be interested in a couple of 2.5” orange 223 mags. I already carry all orange handle pocket knives and put bright yellow electrical tape in things I might lose

So I took a swag at printing some 6 arc dummy rounds to play with. Seems like they function in the normal M mags fine. I was stripping them into my 6cm so not like I could run the bolt fast since they aren’t engaging the extractor.

What is the goal folks are after, a shorter COAL version of the medium caliber mags?

I don't have a 6 ARC barrel installed yet, but using my 223 mag, I can feed 6 ARC, but they snag on the front of the mag a bit (probably from sitting a bit low).

To answer your question - yes, I think I'd be looking at an M mag with slightly shorter COAL for 6 ARC. I was set on buying a Waters mag, but $180 + shipping is pretty steep.

I had contacted Duramag about their flush fit mags for the RAR at one time and they told me that the ARC/Grendel mags had a COAL of 2.346”.
Just as a reference for you.

At this time it’s very unlikely for anything that requires a different size spring, thus no 6 or 10rd mags.

I think we’re talking about the same thing, something between the S and M lengths (ie a shorter than M one). Right?

No Tikka 6 ARC yet (waiting on barrel), but have a Howa mini. I'm .020" off the lands and my COAL with a 105 gr tipped bullet (midsouth special) is 2.269", which is just about max for the Tikka 223 magazine. Not to speak for others, but playing with calipers, I think a mag internal COAL of 2.350" - 2.370" would give plenty of wiggle room.

Flush short magnum prob hold 2 rds down or can you get 3 in there? I get why Tikka did the single stack single feed, reliable, cheap easy to manufacture poly mags. But sako runs a 4 Rd flush fit double stack double feed setup like an AW mag, it's also a 3 lug action however. Pretty sure their Wsm flush mags hold 3.
