Tikka 223 Loads

Since there obviously isn’t any published data, I’m a little leery of getting too specific. But there are several threads out there with good info on Lever w/ heavies in the 223. Snipers Hide, 24 Hour Campfire, and asrealasitgets all used to have a few good threads on the subject.

I will say, I was skeptical and very cautious working up with it, and did a bunch of reading first. It behaves exactly as you’d expect a powder of that burn rate to. Velocities, SDs and accuracy as hoped, with no unusual pressure signs. I’m not really pushing it as hard as some guys have, stopped when I got ~2950 out of a 24” barrel. A few of the guys I shoot with are now using it in the 223 w/ 75ELDs as well.

I’ve only fired 450-500 rounds using it. So far the one possible downside I’d mention is- it seems to burn a little dirtier than Varget.

Best of luck if you decide it’s worth a try. :)
Thanks! I'll have to do a bit more reading I guess. I'll probly just pick some up and sit on it now until I aquire a chronograph. I still have enough approprate powders on hand. Just trying to create a bit of a buffer with what's available now. Powder up here in Canada has gone nuts... at least here locally it's up to $100/ lb

Whoops. I see your from Canada as well so I'm sure your well aware of what it's like....

I'm heading to a PRS club match tomorrow so I swapped the 2.5-10 NXS to the 5-25 ATACR and put some weights in the XLR Element. I got the zero close with the Magnetospeed mounted so I could get velocity numbers. The average was 2910 fps with the 75 ELD-M.

Next I fired two rounds, adjusted, and fired ten more. All without the chronograph. I'm much happier with how it's shooting now.

After this group I adjusted my scope left .1 mil and set the zero. Should be ready to go for tomorrow.
