I'm guessing because they have a softer cup and are more prone to being pierced at less than crazy pressures. Why avoid cci 400s? TIA

Good to know, thanks. I've been using them with the xbr/77tmk load and haven't had any issues. Somewhere around 500rds. They shoot great, too.I'm guessing because they have a softer cup and are more prone to being pierced at less than crazy pressures.
As above, soft cups. Why avoid cci 400s? TIA
75 ELDM, 25 grains of Varget, Lapua brass, BR4 primer. 2.410” in Accurate mags. 2950 out of a 24” CTR. Thats a common TAC class load. I know lots of guys shooting it. I’ve used in mid range 6-800yd FTR as well.
CCI doesn’t seem to think so. I emailed them(cci) about loading 223 rounds at max pressures with cci400s and they said that there are no issue with doing so.I'm guessing because they have a softer cup and are more prone to being pierced at less than crazy pressures.
I only did a rough measurement but I should be about .025" off.How much jump? I had to get mine close.

I didn’t ask about 556, so I can’t answer that. The internet rumors is why I sent them an email.Good to know. What about 556 max pressure?
All I know is I’ve seen a lot of people complain about pierced 400s. They have a thinner cup than 450s and br4s.
My Tikka doesn't seem to love the 75s. Two ten round groups both shot about 1.5 moa. I may try a different powder to see if that makes a difference.
The first one is 24 grains of Varget.

I would imagine you won't have an issue in a bolt gun, but in a AR you likely would.Good to know. What about 556 max pressure?
