was really liking the weight advantage of a ti action but after researching it seems people prefer ss over ti? for those who have had both what were your thoughts of the ti versus the ss? ive only read the ti can be finicky in ways as well as loose its coating cerekote etc. have only owned ss with no problems. reason am wanting a new rifle and putting parts togather, thanks.

I have had both and will never own another TI action, IMHO, TI has too much friction. Mine just would never feed right and always felt like it had sand in the action. I own many rifles and know how to smooth and polish, no matter how hard I tried or how many hours I sat watching TV working it, it never got much smoother. Sold it and will never own another. TI makes for some great products, but IMHO rifle actions are not one of them.

any other real time thoughts on the two? wanting the minimal weight of titanium but not if it will be only that less weight. seems most stick with stainless for longer wear and smoother cycling. thanks

The only ti action I have used or owned is a browning mountain ti.

I found the action to be smooth and no issues at all feeding even though it's in a short fat case which are known for being less than ideal for smooth feeding. Always cycles smooth and no issues at all with the titanium.

That said I mostly use my kimber rifles with their stainless actions mostly cause kimber has figured out how to make their rifles lighter than nearly all the titanium actions I have seen and do it at a more affordable price point.

Not bad for a scoped 325 WSM!

thanks if i were to buy the complete rifle im looking at rather than just the action it would weigh 5 pounds 8 ounces in a 300 wsm, 24'' barrel, 1/10 twist if ti or 6 pounds if stainless, a sako 85 type action. the others i was looking at were rem 700 clones but really not into push feeds and the sako 85 type actions just feels good to me. i have used mauser types on pre 64 mod 70's and like those much like your kimbers as well. thanks for the reply.....
