Custom Rifle Journey/Review *Pic Heavy*

If that happens, I will literally be poor and have to revamp with 19 new barrels & cartridge designs to perfectly pair with the 8 supressors I buy

These thread updates already had me wondering what your annual spend on bolt guns is!

I honestly haven’t tracked it. But I think $20k would be a decent estimate with the random guns/barrels and the components to feed them. Hopefully my wife isn’t a member here to see that hahahaha.

I also built a full stop coyote hunting AR. I hate shooting it. Definitely a bolt gun guy. I’d rather kill 1 coyote with a bolt gun, than 2 with an AR lol. So now I don’t have to waste any more money on AR shit lol

Just remember, tell a friend what they're actually worth not what you told her should you pass before her... 😉

Ha, can totally relate. I get the AR bug every once in a while then shoot them more and its right back to collecting dust in the safe for a couple years.

Hahaha if I die I have some good buddies lined up, that are even worse than me, that’ll sell them for me 🤣🤣.

Yeah I think I just shot bolt guns too much before I went to the AR. Don’t like the mechanical articulation feel during the shot. Feels “gross” hahaha.

I do the same with gas guns. Get all gung ho to make one accurate and shoot it a bunch and as soon as I do it goes right back in to the safe. Can't stand the gassy nature of them and my OCD hates seeing filthy, carbon covered, dented brass.

Hahaha I’m right there with you man!!

This AR shoots excellent too. And I still don’t like it 🤣

I had a good buddy ask me to set him up with a decent priced setup for any big game hunting. I picked everything out for him and this is basically exactly what I would shoot myself if I wasn’t all caught up in the customs/wildcats.

It’s a Tikka T3X super varmint. 24” chambered in 6.5 PRC. I like the slightly heavier barrel and platform altogether. The stock seems just enough of an upgrade over the super light stocks to make it worth it IMO.

I’ll be shooting it a good amount in the coming days.

Thanks for not pointing him towards the one I have for sale🤣

This is a really great write up. It helped answer a bunch of questions I had about building custom rifles and feedback on some of the more custom brands.

@huntnful what bipod is on that Tikka? I'm looking for something cheap right now before I go all in on a Hatch.
I think it’s a Caldwell. It’s just a cheap knockoff Harris bipod. I just keep it around for when I have guns come through with no pic rail up front.

The actual Harris bipod is pretty legit for the rifles with studs in the fore end

NGL I have burned a lot of powder and punched quite a few holes in cavities off a Caldwell. For all intents and purposes, if you maintain them (make sure the freakin "lock nuts" don't get loose or fall off the leg bolts), they work just fine.

Yeah they’re totally fine. Just when used next to the Harris, it’s apparent they’re a cheaper built version.
