They look stupid, especially when you cut down the barrel and they don’t have the normal barrel at the end.
That’s one reason. Also, I wouldn’t trust cutting away anymore metal on those super thin barrels.

That's your personal aesthetic preference, not an actual problem.

You do you. Again, if I plan on having a smith cut and thread a barrel, I’m not buying a Superlite. The Lite models are just fine.
Not an issue in multiple barrels and thousands of rounds. I understand you and others not liking the way it looks, but its completely functional. That’s one reason. Also, I wouldn’t trust cutting away anymore metal on those super thin barrels.
Yep no worries. I have two over barrel suppressors on fluted barrels with no issues seen. Not to derail this thread in any way, but since I have no knowledge, and dont know where else to ask, if I was thinking of getting an over the barrel suppressor, is it ok with a fluted barrel ?
Yep. I have a flutted 6mm barrel that will get cut in the threads as soon as more suppressors show up. The looks don't bother me at all but if it did it's a non issue with the otb suppressors now. Can't see it anyway.Makes me laugh when people say you cant thread them, ive had a t3 superlite 7remag that was cut to 18" and suppressed and had no problems
Not sure the dimensions but if you’re just going to thread on an OTB just get it threaded to 1/2x28 and get the adapter from USAny issues with the flared shoulder (like example 1) and an OTB suppressor? Thinking specifically about the US OG Six-Five over a superlite .243win cut to 16.5 and threaded 5/8 with shoulder.
This is the gun in example 1. It is a Tikka superlite 6.5 barrel cut to 16” (same profile and flutes as the .243) with a US OG on it.Any issues with the flared shoulder (like example 1) and an OTB suppressor? Even with a non over the barrel suppressor, you can’t see it either. US Reaper 6.5.Yep. I have a flutted 6mm barrel that will get cut in the threads as soon as more suppressors show up. Have you threaded a super light at 18”? Do the taper and flutes still provide enough diameter there for the major grooves of a 5/8 thread? That's your personal aesthetic preference, not an actual problem.

Kampfeld is your guy. When he says 8 weeks, it’ll be done right, and more than likely back to you, in 8 weeks.Just fyi Thunderbeast won’t. I’m wanting to thread at 21” on my new 6.5prc tikka the only thing they will do is thread 9/16x28 an install a face mount adapter which I have already had done on my 243 super light and I think it looks like shit plus it adds $125 to the cost. I asked about threading 1/2x28 they said nope they won’t on anything over 6mm.
They are local to me but I’m kinda tired of them telling me how it’ll be and am looking for a new smith. My weatherby 300wmnis 1/2x28 at the end of a 24” barrel but yet I can’t get em to thread this,
If anyone knows of a good smith in northern Colorado let me know. I checked with Kampfield and he’s 8 weeks out I’d like to have it done so I can keep shooting all winter and not have the added expense of shipping back and forth.
