Can’t spread a virus out in the forest away from people. Non residents pay over nine times the rate of a resident for a elk tag. I doubt they want to lose those dollars. Use a mask, gloves and sanitizer getting fuel. Bring your food in with you.

I keep reading this sentiment, but I have to wonder what % of hunters are actually capable of it. There’s definitely hunters numbered in the thousands who stay in hotel rooms, eat breakfast at Denny’s and Subway for dinner, that’s the way they do it, that’s the only way they know how to do it.

Certainly there are regulations in place, commonsensical, that being said businesses are open for business. Some with more restraints than others.

Ya, the commonsensical regulation or better yet "edict from the King" is that restaurants can't open up yet. He won't even decide on whether to "allow" restaurants to open up until May 25th.

Can you imagine a country where people are treated like adults, instead of 5 year olds? A country where those same adults are allowed to think on their own and make their own decisions that are best for themselves and their families? A country that guarantees rights, and freedoms, and liberties to "the people"? Maybe a country that was founded on core principles with a Constitution that prohibits government from taking away or restricting those rights, freedoms, and liberties? Wow, what a country that would be.

When you have high risk people like a bubble boy, you put that boy in a bubble and keep him from society. You don't put everyone in society in a bubble just in case they come in contact with the bubble boy.

Never happen, how would Colorado fund their DOW? Millions lost to local businesses.

Many more millions than hunting season could ever even dream of plugging in to local businesses has already been lost when ski season was cancelled just before peak spring break.

CPW is not directly funded by licenses sales. That money goes to the state’s general funds and the CPW is issued a budget. A handful of states game agencies do operate directly from license revenue (TN comes to minds), but CO is not one of them.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not hoping for a NR lockout come fall, but if the above reasons are what you’re banking on, then I hate to say that they will likely be non factors. A cancelled NR hunting season Comes nowhere close to the impact of a cancelled ski season and they’ve already pulled that, so we know it’s an option. CPW will get paid regardless, though they would certainly face cuts like every other state agency as a result of loss revenue from NR licenses, but those are nothing compared to the loss tax revenue from a cancelled ski season. Licenses, while I’m sure the state appreciated the $, are not propping up the state’s economy like some would believe and many more hotels, restaurants, rental services, cat skiing operations, heli skiing operations, retail shops, VRBOs etc rely on ski season than there are outfitters, cabin rentals, bagged ice distribution and early morning diners.

Idaho F&G doesn't receive any general tax dollars either. License sales, public and private grants and contracts, and wildlife plate sales. 100% agree on CO losing way more money from lost ski season. I think this may be a low participation year from a NR standpoint in CO simply because vacation time will be gone, and budgets for out of state hunts will be limited. 2021 could be an invasion though if things are back to normal.

I was having almost this exact conversation just yesterday. The problem with that concept in this country, is that a lot of adults don't act like adults. They might be over the age of 18, but they act like they're still in middle school. Just because you grow older, doesn't always mean you grow wiser, or gain more common sense, unfortunately. Everyone is running around talking about "sheep or wolf" and "open or closed" and it's become just another divisive talking point instead of an opportunity to try and understand someone elses perspective. I don't care who you vote for nearly as much as I care about the way you treat people who vote differently from you. I personally think people got way too high up on their horses when it comes to fighting for "liberty" considering all of these restrictions are being applied to combat the spread of a virus, and I don't think there's any medical or scientific evidence that suggests being a "wolf" makes you less susceptible to contracting an illness.
