The Shoot2hunt Podcast

You can call it the Durka Durka Wowwy Powwy ...

If the scope somehow ever gets picked up for mil use the name "Durka Deleter" would work

Please drop the politics BS, I’d like to start listening again. There’s enough or it in nearly all other media we’re exposed to, I’d prefer not to listen to it in a guns and reloading podcast. I’m active duty retired military, so no “liberal”. Your podcast though.

Yes, please name it The Chode, lol.

Case rim slot on turret caps - nice.

Bottom reticle post is a little claustrophobic, but I’ve never used one like that, so I’ll go along. I guess I never hold for elevation anyway…

What’s the black marker on the parallax knob hiding - the illumination button?

Why not call it the RSS?

What’s the prototype weigh? Length?

The fat AF vertical post that close to the crosshairs is a dislike for me too. Does it really need to be that big? Couldn't you just make it like 0.15 mil thick and still see it easily? Looks like 0.8 mil+ thick. Why?

Playlist doesn’t cover the question, but was a good rewatch. Without knowing the height of the hashes I might guess/suggest that they could be utilized for milling a known size object (let’s say 18” or 36”).
If you check out the ZP5 eval and Q&A threads, I posted the marked-up reticle with dimensions in one of those - that might help.

But at 3X, it will shine, allowing you to get on target even in low, light. As you go up in magnification it will increasing spread further to the outer edges leaving a nice 1 mil box and some mil hash marks and a pretty wide open view of your target. What’s not to like? I’m ready to pre-order one now!

Would fit right in with the other jargon inside-joke style bad names at UM. OG SixFive. OG. OGL. Shoot2Hunt. HAHA.

They’re improving naming conventions with Raven, RokStock (which is just an ok name), Reaper, etc.
One of UM/S2H's marketing challenges seems to be that because they don't take themselves too seriously (generally a good thing) that they think it's okay for their products to have 'joke' names - which is not always a good thing for marketing to customers, especially those who don't already know who you are.

It also makes it harder for those of us who want to support them to recommend them to others, and have that recommendation taken seriously.

I suspect (and hope) that as UM/S2H mature as businesses, they'll realise that they need to be more relatable to new customers, and they need to be able to be taken seriously if they want to have wider appeal.

Form said the second reticle is a simplified mil. So there is another option to choose from for those who don't like the THLR

"but .25-06 is not a SAAMI spec cartridge I don't think"

Uhhhh only since like 1970, Jake :ROFLMAO:

Jake being confidently incorrect every now and then is one of my favorite aspects of their podcast.
I meant to look that up. I was pretty confident it was, but Jake did make me second guess myself. Thanks! I enjoy the podcast not being a couple of nerds just spewing info. Keep the podcast relatable.

Kinda funny because Tikka sold a factory 25-06 up until last year I think. He's probably too deep in the management weeds to realize it even though UM tears apart factory Tikkas for builds

In the Powder and Primers episode, Jake and Ryan mentioned some different primer seating tools at the end. I'll accept the premise that a tool which allows the user to set the depth and come to a hard stop is going to be more consistent than one that requires on hand pressure (like the Lee AutoPrime I have used for the past 30 years). So, I think it is probably worth upgrading that part of my setup. I personally don't reload enough to justify the gold-plated Cadillac of priming tools, but it looks phenomonal.

They listed a couple of options at different price points.

The very expensive option ($695, before adding shell holders and accessories): https://primalrights.com/usa/product/products/priming-equipment/cps

A budget option ($185 with one shellholder, $16.50 for each additional shellholder): https://21stcenturyinnovation.com/b...k-head-bench-rest-priming-tool/v/1206-GIII-01

Another budget option ($120, plus $20 per shell holder): https://www.brownells.com/reloading...ng-tools/sinclair-priming-tool/?sku=749007603

My thoughts on the two "budget" options are summed up pretty well in this review of the Sinclair:

They didn't mention anything cheaper than that, but I am curious about one cheaper option, mostly because it is a lot cheaper and has a tray so I wouldn't have to put in each primer individually (FML). Has anyone used this?

Is there some other option I am missing that has a primer feed?

Hahah. It doesn’t matter. An RCBS hand priming tool makes as accurate ammo as anything else. Don’t let reloading dorks, get you dorking out about things that do not matter.

I should have known the answer was “I probably can’t shoot the difference.”

Those two guys get talking and their enthusiasm is infectious. I swear they could sell a catsup popsicle to a woman in white gloves.

Thank you, Form.

Man it seems hard to accept that different priming tools, show up on paper. I do see a benefit to a bench priming tool to make it easier. After hand priming a couple hundred cases with nice tight primer pockets, my fingers hurt. 😆 *Ben Stiller comes in

I should get into reloading. Anyone got a thread to get me started on what I need?

Painless load development (mine)

And then get an RCBS starter kit. Start a new thread if you want to get 20 different opinions on it.
