The Shoot2hunt Podcast

Zeronator.

And then, like all good scope names, there will be lots of misconceptions on how it’s even pronounced. Like Trijicon or Leupold( you know Lee uh polled vs Loo-pold; Trih juh con vs Try jih con)
Uh. The incorrect pronounciation of 'Leupold' irks me every time. (It's like how you Americans leave out the 'i' in 'aluminium', or say 'irregardless'.)

Look, all people have to do is remember the mantra 'Leupold is crap' - and then they'll know it's pronounced 'Loo-pold'. Done.

Woah. Let's not canonize him - not only is that not what @Formidilosus is likely to want, but it would turn Rokslide into the weirdest hagiography ever ...

I just figured it was funny and would make up for the bad PR from the 666 suppressor. ;)

Edit - my blasphemy only goes so far, but I have to confess that I was thinking of humorous variations on the text of John 3:16 too. If people can’t see the sarcasm in it, I don’t know what to say.

We changed the spelling of aluminum just so we can pronounce it how we want 😂

I was also simply saying that it is a Shoot2Hunt product not an Unknown Munitions product. So calling it UMV318 for Unknown Munitions is silly
Agreed there for sure. I just don't see it NOT being branded primarily by the manufacturing partner. Who outside of Rokslide is going to buy a $1000 scope from a company called Shoot2Hunt? If it's say a Vortex scope, "designed in partnership with S2H" you have much larger potential customer base with that known scope manufacturer being the primary branding.

I want to say it was mentioned that would be the setup...but I could be wrong. The emphasis on the scope having "Shoot2Hunt" on it is likely because that was potentially not going to happen.

Simply naming it the, "Vortex Shoot2Hunt Scope" is kinda lame, needs a catchy name.

Also, the scope will be at Shot Show but neither S2H or UM have booths so it must be at the manufacturing partner's booth. Would be kinda weird for them to have a product without their branding on it in their booth. But that's a weaker argument than the above haha.

Semantics.

The scope hasn't been tested. So they won't "be" at the shot show. The samples/test scopes will "be" picked up at shot show is what i took from that segment. I do however think it is Vortex from the "who cares whose name is on it" comment

I feel like it being vortex anything is a surefire way to tank its sales here.

Anyone know much about what it takes to get LOW to make a scope to your specs? I am guessing either you have to be established in the scope game or place a large enough order to make it worth their time.

It has been mentioned in discussion that they have both a volume ordered and a volume previously sold requirement and that it is a tough market to break into.

I’m guessing that big name companies would not be interested in the RokScope. It’s probably a company that we wouldn’t expect.
Probably.

But I think the focus of the posts above about the unknown account holder / existing brand are a bit beside the point - the main issues are the manufacturer (LOW) and the setters of the specs (Form, Ryan, and S2H as whole). At this point, the existing scope company is really just the connection between these two. If they help sell more scopes, then great.

But in terms of marketing overall, the relevant comparison here is not Vortex, it's the other scopes that have been shown to be durable, and whose sales are in great part likely due to this, via word-of-mouth - namely, the SWFA 3-9, the Maven RS1.2, and the Minox ZP5 THLR ... likely all scopes that 90% of hunters have not heard of.

My personal favorites would be:

- Corvus (Raven) Corvus scope on a Corax rifle = Corvus Corax = scientific name for Raven (common raven / Northern raven)

- Cretan (Greek for bull) because the scope would be "strong like bull" (said with the accent)

- Lithos or Petra(rock/stone) could bridge the gap in a creative way to mean Rokscope

Other cool scientific names based on bats or birds (for some reason y'all like to name things after bats and birds)

Desmodus: vampire bat

Haast: large extinct eagle

Vulcanops: extinct burrowing bat
