Not your keys not your crypto. I'll buy through Binance.us or Paypal and then immediately transfer the assets to Ledger, I got caught up in the Celsius debacle and lost a ton on that, I'll never have another cent in a soft wallet. Everything will be offline for me forever in the crypto space.

I’m pretty much the same, I use Bianance.us and a ledger. Sometimes I buy from coinbase, however, if you look closely they always show a higher price plus fees, bc of this I don’t use them much. With CB you can withdraw in about 24 hours, Binance is 7 days.

Trezor is another good cold wallet. Also, DO NOT BUY YOUR COLD WALLET FROM AMAZON. Buy it directly from the company website.

I’m only buying btc at this point for crypto.

This is the best advice you can take with crypto. Back in '21 I took everything I still had off exchanges & put on a hard wallet.
On a related note, looks like Binance just halted withdrawals

The Amazon advice is gold. Tons of people have bought knockoffs on their site and it ends up in disaster. Only buy directly from the source (ledger or wherever else you decide).

It can happen, I lost enough to buy a nice truck on celsius (I may get something back but I’ve accepted I’ll probably never get anything). Soft wallets are shit, all of them.

I use Gemini. It has the best rates if you're trading less than $10k a year or something like that my number may be a little off. Coinbase Pro is a is a great option and the best rate if you're trading above the $10k mark. If you're using coinbase use the pro version, the base version has higher fees.

Not your keys, not your coins. You're going to hear this a lot. Take this as gospel. What this means is don't leave your crypto on an exchange like you would stocks/options or like you'd leave cash in a bank. Get a crypto wallet and transfer it to your wallet. I use a ledger, but there are more options. If you follow this advice all of the exchanges could go under tonight and you wouldn't lose a thing. The thesis of cypto is that you are your own bank.

Check out Andrei Jikh on youtube. He has some older videos that really helped me to understand all of this when I got started.

Don't use rodinhood or paypal. You own nothing when you use robinhood, robinhood owns it with your money. I think paypal works the same, but I'm not positive.
This is excellent correct information. I use coinbase to purchase bitcoin and move it directly to a ledger that I unfortunately lost in a boating accident. Buy bitcoin only, there is no second best.

Just noticed that reit NYMT is now paying a 17.06% annual dividend (quarterly.)

Been holding that one for quite awhile, and it's risen and fallen repeatedly; but those divis continue to add up.

Ya that’s one I might have to look at.

I mainly just stick money in my 401k in a fairly balanced fashion. But I play around a little with some fun money.

Well I follow a few people that look at what Washington politicians are investing in. Pelosi dumped some funds into Pyxis Oncology not to long ago. . . So when I heard that last week I bought in at $2.10/share. Knowing absolutely nothing about the stock/company etc. Just knowing that the Pelosi's had put money in.

It was only $500 so not a huge deal if I lost it! As of now it's hovering around $4.05/share. . . Now I'm studying the stock trying to figure out an exit point because it was just a dumb idea to try 🤣! Probably just riding a bubble of investors seeing she bought it but so far I may have a new investment strategy with my fun money account!

Can't say when you should sell but yeah at some point take the $$$ and run :)

Normally Pelosi's do well but they were down last year.

Broomd I've been watching NYMT for a few months -- as a long-term holder would you see it differently for someone considering opening a position right now? I have gone back and forth on it a few times lately, considering it looks "cheap," historically speaking, but it seems like the the stability of the dividend next quarter might be questionably now that the share price has dropped some 25%. And a mortgage REIT bet seems like it's 100% down to mortgage rates -- as they started to creep down a bit in the last two weeks, NYMT's price is creeping back up. So do we think we've see the high for mortgages (and the high for long-term UST yields?)

I truly don't know, I'm just a guy with no formal education or training in investing, I just read a lot and think about it a lot.

Crude making another run at trend-lines. Weekly charts for Brent and WTI (crude light). Let's see if it can break and run. Not sure that this admin can afford to dump any more SPR to save it (energy inflation) when it does.

Reg. unleaded here is $4.50/gal so this should push it over $5 in fairly short order.

Crude gaps up big. Both well above previously mentioned trend-lines and at or nearly at previous resistance. Saudi's, OPEC+ are kickin our favorite uncle and his crony's right in the nuts. Let's see what he has to say about the predicament they are in.
