LOL, I saw that!
I love my Ruger American (above) and that even made me cringe. It was hard not to comment.
All of my Ruger American rifles that came with an AR magazine, came with a DuraMag magazine.
Cruising Rugers website (mostly was looking for at the new Scout) and noticed the Ruger Ranch 350 legend is shipping with h a flushfit mag. Reckon Ruger decided that we weren’t all wrong and started to ship with DuraMags??![]()
Let me backup….All of my Ruger American rifles that came with an AR magazine, came with a DuraMag magazine.

Why is it strange? An item with a different style of accessory included in the package gets its own sku in almost every industry. I would say that Ruger recognized that the majority of the people using a 350 Legend will be hunting with them and are trying to make that gun more user friendly for hunting.
Read a little further and they have the Ranch with flushfit labeled as “New” and the 350 legend with normal mag length further down the page listed as “limited availability “, same rifle far as I can tell with just different mags, different item numbers.
Kinda strange but we are talking about Ruger so…….
The last 3 Gen 2 Ruger American rifles I bought (2x 22 ARC and 1x 6mm ARC) all came with 10 round Duramag magazines. Sounds like they now have Duramag as a partner and have seen that Duramag can supply the 4/5 round flush fits in a sufficient amount to supply them for distribution as factory offerings. I look forward to Ruger continuing to offer new options at budget pricing for the common man to get good access to precision firearms at a price that lets them enjoy shooting.Let me backup….
I meant DuraMag flush fits. The 350 legend I referenced states it comes with a flushfit mag and from the stock photo it looks like a DuraMag.
Strange because it seems a whole lot easier to just change the magazine instead of making a new sku. The mags hold the same amount of ammo, ones flush and the other isn’t. I agree on the vast majority of people wanting an easier to carry and sling flush mag, hence the reason we have discussed the DuraMag flushfit on this very thread so often. Heck, it’s the reason I have bought 8 or 9 DuraMag flushfit a myself. Why is it strange? An item with a different style of accessory included in the package gets its own sku in almost every industry. Want to sell the ranch? LolRuger has added “scout” rifles to the line up 5.56 and .308.
Dimensionally, they look the same as the ranch line.
Gun talk had Ruger make them a scout rifle as well.
I don’t need another gun. But, I always liked the look of the scout rifles.
My ranch 6 arc is still in the box.
Long story, just haven’t had interest in shooting,
It comes down to showing the accountants/management what sold and what didn't sell to justify changes in the product line. If it was a small time gun manufacturer, sure you just change the magazine and be done with it but when you are a major manufacturer and you have people ordering things based on a sku number that never see the actual gun before the order you can't do that. If I ordered 10 of the the RA 350 Legend rifles and wanted just the flush fit magazine because my customers wanted that style and I needed some for stocking the shelves and got 10 with the 10 round mag (the 5 round is the same length and form factor as the 10 round magazine, I tried the 5 round when the flush fits were unavailable) I would be pissed. Now I have to get a RA (return authorization) and try to get rifles with the right magazine delivered from the warehouse. With a new sku number issues like that are eliminated. This is very common in industry and not seen as an issue. Once all the large form magazines are sold the sku will most likely be frozen on that item and only referenced for warranty work.Strange because it seems a whole lot easier to just change the magazine instead of making a new sku. Back to your earlier statement…
So your AR style Americans came with a DuraMag flushfit?
