The Rokslide 95 (Ruger American 😁)

I haven't done much with the 6mm ARC yet as the factory speeds were underwhelming but shot well. I ordered some Hendershot's "bolt action" loads with the 95, 105, and 108 Berger bullets to try something not available off the shelf. Haven't had time to shoot them yet. Shot the 105 and 108 factory Hornady loads at 500 and 700 and they were accurate with almost the same points of impact and dope calls. The 90 Druid Hill ammo had a different point of impact so I didn't shoot them at distance but I did calculate the dope and it was -0.2 mil drop and +0.3 drift on the other 2 loads. Unfortunately, with these velocity numbers, I'm only seeing 1800 fps to 430 yards with the 108 and 105 Hornady loadsand 410 yards with the 90 Druid Hill ammo at winter DA numbers where I hunt late season cows.

Thanks, a little slow, I’m hoping to push the 95 tmk’s over 2650. I’ll stick to the 20” and hopefully I won’t have to stomp on the pedal to get there.

You should hit that easy in a 16, I load 103 eldxs for a buddys 16 inch 6 arc rar and we settled on 2750 but had it alot faster iirc we hit 2900 but it was a little spicy at 90 degrees

I think so too, but I’m also only looking at temp stable powders. Which is basically no ball powders (I might try staball match). I am still sour about my primers popping over summer with my other ARCs.
2900 is smoking from a 103 in a 16” barrel. That’s right at 6 creed.

Anyone here know how to “recock” the firing pin on a gen2? (or it got “dropped” as I’ve seen it described). I sent it off for fluting but it did not survive the 1200 mile soccer game USPS was playing with it on the way back to me. I’ve searched YouTube and here for any tips; I also called Ruger and they told me they cannot offer ‘gunsmith advice’ over the phone, which I’m sure is just a lawyer line…but I’m kind of at a lost how to get the bolt back in action.

From what I understand I need to put a good bit of pressure to compress the spring and somehow engage it, but again am coming up short with the ~10year old YT vids and general lack of guidelines from Ruger. (And just my general lack of knowledge never having to do this before with a bolt action)

I feel.like I had this issue with mine, its been awhile but I think I depressed the spring and was then able to rotate the top assembly to recock it. Its been awhile so I could be way off but I think thats what I did

Yeah we are going to try staball match in it this summer but lvr has been absolutely killer in it so not in a big hurry

This is what in finding. This was made before the Gen 2 rifles but looks to be the same as what you have.

Thanks, Jay. I’ve watched that video a number of times and maybe I’m just missing something, but following those steps doesn’t quite do it. I’ll keep trying, i just think I’m “out of order” with some steps given the current state I’m in vs how he’s starting. Thanks again

I think you’re going to need to put it down into the recess and manually cock it. He referred to it in the video. Sometimes you can do it by hand and not need a vise or pliers. Just make sure to tape your pliers if you do go that route so you don’t scratch it. Without a tool holding the spring pressure back like the screwdriver in the video, you’ll need to get to that point. It’s hard to tell without having it in my hands.

10 shot average for me is 2913 MV from my 20”. Sample of 1 so more research is still required. I’ll admit that I do feel pretty comfortable with it.
