The Rokslide 95 (Ruger American 😁)

Here's my gen 1 7.62x39 Ranch. The gun has always impressed me with whatever ammo I feed it. Often shooting around 1". In preparation for youth deer hunting, I swapped the red dot I had on for an old bushnell trophy I've had around. I also made a kydex cheek riser and installed a linear compensator to cut down the blast a bit from the 16" barrel.

Great fun rifle to shoot. I'm hoping to add a gen 2 in either 5.56 or 223 and maybe add my first suppressor. Has anyone used the 223 chambered ones with 5.56? Any pressure signs?

I’ve been eyeing this since it dropped… good feedback from you so far? I think the aesthetics are great compared to other options
Killed some stuff since, and really like the MDT...

So much so, I've got another inbound for the new 6ARC.....

My son (now 10 years old) has racked up 4 deer in three years with his, topped with a 3-9x40 Leupold VX-Freedom CDS. Shots have ranged from 80 to 430 yards.
Follow up from this…..I decided to throw a suppressor on it this year for my daughter to shoot. After getting a few baffle strikes, I sent the rifle to Thunderbeast where they confirmed the alignment was way off. They got it down to .004ā€ runout, but nothing like spending $300 (with round-trip shipping) to fix a $400 gun. šŸ˜‚ After I got it back, this is a 15-shot group at 100 yards with factory 143 ELD-X. Not sure what happened with the two ā€œfliersā€ (probably me).

I have a Ruger American that I did a "pin and weld" suppressor mount on that has accounted for a couple bears. I'll have to get a better picture later but it brings the oal length down to about K can length while still being more or less hearing safe with a longer suppressor. I'll probably SBR it once the $200 tax goes away. Very accurate.

Curious if anyone knows how it does in snow compared to the Ruger Hawkeye? Don't believe that has been tested lately. I have a late hunt that could involve snow.

I'd really like one of these, but it will take the rifle to ~9.5 lb. I kind of like it at sub 8.5 lbs. I already have several other rifles that are all around 9.5. It would be nice to have at least one that is light šŸ˜‚. @huntsman22

That looks like a Triji 1-4 in Talleys? I was going the same direction. What height are those ring mounts, look about as low as you could go?

Yes it's a Trijicon 1-4 in low mounts, Warne if I recall. I trimmed the stock down a bit and used a single stack 450 Bushmaster mag which works better than normal 308 mags.
Overall I like it but I think I'll switch the RA to more of a hunting rifle with a 3-9 scope. I moved the 1-4 Trijicon over toy Ruger Scout rifle for guiding. I just feel like the M77 platform is a tad harder to break.

Have you had issues with the RA? Or just a gut feeling?

No issues just a gut feeling that the m77 Hawkeye action and trigger might be a little bit harder to break

My M77 Mark II trigger was tough all right…tough to pull! They called it the lawyer proof trigger. An aftermarket spring brought it down to 5+ lbs. It’s currently at my gunsmith getting a hone job in hopes of landing closer to 3.5 lbs.
