The Rokslide 95 (Ruger American 😁)

Yes they are 1ā€ squares.
Mine did not come with a thread protector. Just the brake. I used a thread protector my buddy had on hand.
As far as recoil goes, this think is almost as mild as a 223 even without the brake.
It’s about 9# the way it sits and it is noticeably less recoil than the 10# 243 I have.
And I know this is all based on ā€œfeelā€ so very subjective.
I wouldn’t hesitate to put an average 10 year old boy or 11/12 year old girl behind one without a brake.
Also understand that I am by no means trying to convince you of anything at all.
I fully understand that you know your wife’s abilities and limitations far better than I do.
I’m just trying to describe how the recoil of a rifle feels to me to a stranger over the internet. 😁

BLJ, thanks for your quick answer.

I think this will be a good way to go. Kathy doesn't really care to shoot her Savage 11 Trophy Hunter in 308 any more, but she's comfortable shooting my bolt 223 Winchester 70 Lightweight with a laminated stock, so it's time to get her a deer rifle she's more comfortable shooting. I think the 6mm ARC would be a good way to go. Light recoiling and can still be effective to beyond the distances we have to shoot where we hunt.

Thanks again, BLJ

These were mentioned in another thread.
I wanted to link them here for people who may be looking for something like this.
My DuraMags in my 6 ARC have been great.

These flush fit AR style mags have a COAL of 2.346ā€ per the email I received from them today.

I bought a RAP Gen 2 in 22 ARC for my wife and took the 4x16 Vortex Viper PST Gen 1 off my 260 and put it on there since she really liked that scope and gun combination. Stripped the sling and bipod off too and took it to the range in between dropping the boy off for his pregame warmup and the game. Wife shot 1 sighter after I bore sighted it. Moved it up 3 inches and right 4 inches and she shot a 1.2" 3 shot group around the bullseye. Wind was blowing and she was shivering so she needs to work on shooting groups with her new rifle when there isn't a cold breeze. Shot 5 was taken on the 250 yard steel. She watched the hit in the scope and remarked "Man, that got there fast...". First 5 shots with the factory Hornady 75gr ELDM gave me a 2995 fps average with a 4 ES. I put that into Shooter and shot the rifle 1 time at the 490 yard steel with a 12 mph wind with a 1st round impact. 6 rounds down the barrel and banging steel at almost 500. This should be a fun gun with around 200 yards more range than the 223 with 77tmk.

10 rounds of the 75 ELDM from the 22 ARC. I think I’ll hunt with these. šŸ˜€IMG_5166.jpeg

Cool mornings for the first time this summer.
Felt like fall was on the way. 😁
Decided that the rifle needed to be outfitted a little more appropriately for the season.

I got another Ruger American Gen 2 since I last posted. Picked up a 22 Creedmoor in the Go Wild Camo version from Scheels.

I put a Maven RS1.2 Mil in UM Premier rings on it and went out and shot some groups.

First five down the pipe, top center. Bore site was good left to right but high. Sub 1" group from a freshly cleaned new barrel. Factory Hornady 80 ELDX @ 3039 fps over 5 shots.

1000007308.jpg

Shots 6 to 10 on the barrel with the factory 80 ELDM ammo. Again, sub MOA on 5 shots with a velocity on 5 shots of 3116 fps. I slipped my scope rings to this load and shot 10 at steel at distance. Easy impacts and hits sounded more like the 6.5 Creedmoor than the 22 ARC. I'll recheck both loads for speed and accuracy after I get 100 rounds down the pipe.

Got activated for a damage hunt and will be using this rifle on some whitetail does September 4th and 5th. We (me, wife, daughter, and son) will be using the 223 with 77tmk, 22 ARC with 75 ELDM, and 22 Creedmoor with 80 ELDM. All shots will be sub 500 yards and most with be 200 to 350. Should be a good time getting down with the 22's.

If she likes the M70, why not (1) give it to her and buy something new for you or (2) buy her a Featherweight or your version in .223 or .243?

Btw - I love my Howa Mini 6ARC with a 20" CF barrel and the following stock. It is very handy and accurate.

RA’s make boring groups don’t they? 😁

Hold tight. There’s now a factory 22CM offering that is sub $1k? Good to know and hopeful more follow with other ammo manufacturing following suite
