The stock seems to be more flexible than the Gen 1’s.

Is the front end really more flexible than a Gen 1? That was really my only issue with the stocks on the Gen 1. You were going to get contact if you used a bipod. I put my 5.56 RAR and my 6CM RAP in Bravo Chassis just to get away from the gummy worm stock. Guess I'll just wait for a Mini Action in 22 ARC to come available.

Take that with a grain of salt.
That’s me squeezing the fore end on one rifle.
I clearances it with a socket and sandpaper and had no issues off of a bipod. IMO

I use it here in Alberta when the hunting pressure is heavy and all the critters are hiding in the thick stuff.

I’d say there is a very good chance my hands are the same size as your daughters. Or so I’ve been told.

Picked up a gen2 300wm right after christmas and got a .243 gen1 as well, definitely agree it fits 95% of hunters needs from a box a year to 50 theyre quality rifles for a good price and kills things just as dead as the next guys $10k custom rifle. Already dropped a couple hogs in their tracks with both, cant wait to test out the 300wm on elk this year and hopefully ill have it suppressed by then.

I currently have 3 Ruger Americans, all of them are the Ranch versions and serve as inexpensive suppressor hosts. I previously had a Gen1 Predator in .223, but I sold it to a friend. I plan to replace it with the Ranch version, but I just haven't gotten around to it quite yet.

My Gen1 in .300 Blk shoots lights great with just about anything. My favorite subsonic loads are 7.5 - 8.2gr of Lil' Gun with the 190gr Sub-X (I have to reduce the powder charge in the winter to keep them subsonic). They are very accurate and close to airgun quiet with an R9 suppressor:

It also shoots lighter bullets really well:

I have another Gen1 in .450 Bushmaster. I recently put it in a Magpie Hunter stock, and I'm very happy with the outcome. It feeds great with the less-expensive Amend2 AICS magazines.

My Gen2 .350 Legend is probably the most accurate of the bunch. It is the least picky of the three, in the accuracy dept, and it seems to shoot just about anything:

I'm planning on my next Ruger American to be a 223, and I'd like to try it in a Magpul Hunter stock with AICS magazines. I'm hoping the longer COAL allowances should better allow me to take advantage of the Ruger's 1-8 twist-rate.

I think my next rifle is going to be a Ruger American in 6mm ARC. Debating on which model/barrel length. If Indiana would legalize 22 caliber for deer hunting I would probably get a 223 or 22 ARC.

Gen II 6 creed shooting factory ammo to make some brass. If I didn’t have 109’s sitting on the bench, I’d probably just stick to factory! Really warming up to the rifle. There was another small plate on the 600 yard rack and I knocked it down with my first shot at it and ruined my own fun.

I ended up putting my Ranch 223 back into the OEM stock. I had an outlier chassis/rail ordered and paid for, but after two weeks I never heard anything about a shipping notice. I contacted them and still didn’t hear anything. After three weeks I canceled my ordered and they responded within hours. It’s only slightly aggravating but it is what it is.

If anyone is interested in a KRG bravo for their ranch rifle, let me know and we can make a deal.

Assuming 1 inch squares on the target, that's 7 under an inch. Makes it a keeper in my book.
Do the rifles come with a thread protector for the muzzle in case you don't want to run the muzzle brake? I would prefer to not use the brake, but I think my wife might like shooting with the brake, she's pretty small, has fusions in her neck, has shoulder problems, and is recoil sensitive. A main reason why I'm interested in a light recoiling cartridge that can use modern high bc bullets and allow deer harvesting at a good range.

Now, if Ruger would just make one in the color scheme I would really like. I like the flat dark earth stock of the Ranch model but the bronze Cerakote on the Predator model. A 20" bronze bronze barreled action in a flat dark earth stock would be my dream American!

It’s about 9# the way it sits and it is noticeably less recoil than the 10# 243 I have.
And I know this is all based on “feel” so very subjective.
I wouldn’t hesitate to put an average 10 year old boy or 11/12 year old girl behind one without a brake.
Also understand that I am by no means trying to convince you of anything at all.
I fully understand that you know your wife’s abilities and limitations far better than I do.
I’m just trying to describe how the recoil of a rifle feels to me to a stranger over the internet.

BLJ, thanks for your quick answer.

I think this will be a good way to go. Kathy doesn't really care to shoot her Savage 11 Trophy Hunter in 308 any more, but she's comfortable shooting my bolt 223 Winchester 70 Lightweight with a laminated stock, so it's time to get her a deer rifle she's more comfortable shooting. I think the 6mm ARC would be a good way to go. Light recoiling and can still be effective to beyond the distances we have to shoot where we hunt.
