What?? Why?The three I have…. I won’t say what I have actually seen in comparing.
Gucci Tikka!$999
Honest question here, and I have more Tikkas than anything else. If going a custom action/build route; why would I want a Tikka clone at $999 vs an Origin. The Origin is probably a little less street price.
The three major drawbacks I have with my Tikkas are 1, limited stocks.
2, limited triggers
And 3, limited prefit barrels
Yes, I understand that there are options in all three categories, but the options are much fewer than what you see for Remington 700 style actions/clones.
The Tikkas are a great factory rifle, but it feels like some of that is lost when the price is going to be the same or more than any other comparable custom build.
What am I missing about the Tikka/Tikka clone action that makes it much more desirable?

Yes, but tikka actions will still be more affordable. Are these going to be $250 better than what a factory Tikka action is if not it kind of missed the mark imo.I have been asked by multiple people to do an ice and snow reliability eval between rifles/actions/triggers. Tthis is not a “test”, it is just a view at what generally happens. Doing a legitimate test requires more rifles and consistent conditions than I have. So…
The rifles:
1). Tikka T3 in KRG Bravo chassis
2). Sauer 100 factory
3). Howa 1500 Alpine factory
4). Remington M7 with TT trigger and Bansner stock
5). Winchester Pre 64 M70 factory
6). Tikka T3 factory
7). Sako TRG 42 factory
This will be done in multiple steps, worst case working back back to easy...

Two things.
1. Integrated pic rail for limitless mounting options.
2. Nitrided from the manufacturer.
Buying a screw-on pic rail is $75-ish for a good one, and you still have the weakness of it not being integral.
Getting an action nitrided will cost you $100 more to have it done through a shop.
Also, an American manufacturer who is filling a demand and making a good product. Someone who actually listened to us.
Yes. Tim said his partner is a left so they’ll be making left handed one as well. I expect it won’t be right away.
I’ve never felt like a tikka action needed to be nitrated. They are already the smoothest and most reliable action on the market. Two things.

Don’t forget that it also has a swappable bolt faceI’ve never felt like a tikka action needed to be nitrated. They are already the smoothest and most reliable action on the market.
Ok on the pic rail…I guess.
Nitride is even smoother, and quite a bit more corrosion/rust resistant than the stainless actions. That’s the biggest benefit.I’ve never felt like a tikka action needed to be nitrated. They are already the smoothest and most reliable action on the market.

I’d guess none. Unaware of many custom actions that come with triggers and bottom metals but hopefully i’m wrong there. What trigger does it come with?
I don’t care if you buy one, but I don’t think this is being made to compete with an off-the-shelf tikka. This is meant to be the base of a custom build for those who don’t want the disadvantages of a Remington 700 based action.I’d guess none. Unaware of many custom actions that come with triggers and bottom metals but hopefully i’m wrong there.
Hence my concern this may be pushing 2x more the Tikka on price once you round up a bottom metal, trigger and magazine for it.

If you buy a tikka, send it to UM for lightening/nitriding, get a prefit to run 6 creed, and get an aftermarket stock, you’re gutting the tikka to the point that you might as well just buy the action that already has those things plus the integrated rail. If I went that route, I’d plan to upgrade the bottom metal and trigger anyway so it’s just a donor action at that point. As they’ve said many times, tikka won’t sell them bare actions, so for all their custom builds, they’re throwing all those components in a gut pile.
I would recommend someone buy a standard tikka if they weren’t planing to tinker/upgrade, but if you know you want custom anyway, I think this is a better place to start.
If trying to save money, a Tikka without upgrades is the answer.I’d guess none. Unaware of many custom actions that come with triggers and bottom metals but hopefully i’m wrong there.
