6ARC Tikka

Anyone tried one of these actions? https://jaoutdoors.com/product/tikka-grendel-arc-action/
I really want to hit the easy and cheaper button and buy a tikka 223 as a trainer and for the S2H school next year.

But I really like my 6 arc gasser. And a bolt gun would make a lot of sense. I'd just have to make sure I keep my hand loads labeled and separate for each gun.

Only problem would be getting/making 1000 rounds of arc ammo vs ordering 223/5.56 ammo from PSA. Also the wait time on a barrel.

You need 1000 rounds for the school, right? Not much else to do but reload I suppose when it's -40 in Montana in the winter.

Formidilosus can you help me bug ryan_avery and Unknown Munitions to make their tikka clones in 6 arc??? Think they'd sell like hot cakes. I didn't realize how much of a cult following this round had until I started making my gasser. Think the Facebook group has several thousand followers.

You didn't tag the people you were trying to. There is a space behind their name and that breaks the coding.

Seems Tikka is a little out of touch with their American customers on what calibers we use. Spending almost 2k to make a Tikka in a caliber that's available by a lot of the American manufacture is crazy But if I wanted a cheaper hobby I would take up knitting or something.

I'm interested in that action. Maybe after I shoot out this Howa Mini in 22 ARC I'll look at it but honestly, that action costs more than a Mini or Ruger American and you don't have a barrel or stock yet. Hopefully the Raven will have the right bolt face that you could just buy another bolt for an action you already have.

I don’t have the money to do this right now, but could a guy buy one of the heavily discounted 350 legend Tikkas on euro-optic and then just buy a barrel and get the bolt opened? I think you’d come in around $1000 at that point, maybe a little less depending on barrel cost and ability to sell the 350 legend barrel.

I did a tikka 6 arc out of a tikka t3x lite 6.5 creedmore. Had the bolt bushed by kampfeld to the proper bolt face. I’ve never seen a bushed bolt but it’s clean and smooth. I wouldn’t know it’s was modified. He also chambered the Preferred barrel. 5R 1-7 twist 16”. Man… that thing can shoot! It is now my most accurate rifle i own, or maybe just the easiest to shoot. Set up in krg echo, Maven rs1.2, a raptor 8 with 3” reflex. All up about a 9.5# rifle. Hopefully my rokstok will show up soon and can compare it to the echo. But this setup shoots so well… I think my 16 yr old daughter shot it even better than I did. Very very glad I did the tikka 6 arc (my first tikka). I also have a Howa mini 6 arc in a stockys VG and the tikka wins. Press the trigger and a hole appears where the dot is on the target at 100 yds. that is extremely satisfying to see. Not the best pic

Which magazines are you using in the echo?

I have a Howa mini 6 ARC - heavy barrel, Stockys VG, Jard trigger, and Trijicon Tenmile. It’s been “ok” at this point. Had the stock bedded a while back. Seems to like the Hornady black 105 BTHP ammo, but haven’t seen anything super consistent with the 103 and 108 factory ammo. Tried some Druid Hill 75 gr Vmax loads and they were 2.5”+ at 100.

I keep going back and forth on rebarreling or ditching it and going the Tikka 6 ARC route.

Stock tikka m+ 3 rd and have a couple m 5 rd that I’m going to try. But just cycling in my basement it oddly seemed like the m+ were better. I had no issues with them on the first trip to the range and I think 50 rds and haven’t tried the m yet (

I kept my Howa. It’s not bad but… tikka wins hands down. Weight is weight. Slightly longer bolt throw didn’t bother me when actually using it. I am shooting hand loads 108s and RL 19 but I didn’t do any load development- FL sized, loaded 1 gr under max, normal seating depth. And… it is a shooter for sure. I weighed my Howa and it’s at about 7lb 10oz or so all up sporter barrel, scythe and Swfa 3-9 in stockys. So tikka setup is heavier. But wow the tikka is a shooter.
