The 6UM

I just dont see the primer pocket lasting more than 4-5 rounds. Complete guess

10-4 I think I’ve got 6 firings on the brass that I’m running now. That said I have had to toss a few for loose primer pockets. I anneal every firing but that’s just because I’m a creature of habit.

UM daddy Avery gifted me some dtacs. Here we go!

In all seriousness, any clue why that one lone flier?

I have no idea. Probably because I suck. It was also windy. About 10-15 mph. But I can't even blame the wind because the rest were dialed.
Maybe I didnt have my bipod loaded correctly. I like shooting prone off a bipod for sighting in and testing loads.
But I see what Form says that it definitely can add some error to the system when not used correctly.

Some of you might recall further back in the thread that I was debating between some of the heavies for an upcoming elk hunt for my 6mm PRC. Figured I'd give an update, the 109 LRHT did the job for sure. 3320 fps MV, 2900 fps impact velocity at 340 yards. He ran dead on his feet with his herd for less than 100 yards, I sent another at 420 yds or so, 2800fps impact velocity, he ran another little bit and I sent a final (albeit totally unnecessary) shot at 460 even though he was already tipping over at that point.

Didn't do a detailed necropsy because I was doing gutless for the first time with not much help, but none of the 3 bullets exited at all and I could see the bloodshot on the offside ribcage, so that tells me that they upset and penetrated all the way through the chest cavity without over penetrating. I guess the only other thing I could've hoped for is that he dropped on the spot or didn't run as far, but it's hard to tell if that's the bullet's fault or the fact that he was spooked and on adrenaline from his herd being pushed around by other hunters prior to my shot.

Probably my favorite part about the hotrod 6mms is that I could keep him in the scope the whole time and just keep sending follow up shots without even worrying much about the bullet drop.

The HOG is still undefended. Tanya made a hell of a shot on this bull as it was just about to go into the timber at 480 yards. It was quartering away slightly. It looked like the DTAC broke apart and souped one lung, tore the top of the heart off, and hit an artery in the neck. The bull still went sixty yards.IMG_7224.jpegIMG_7262.jpegIMG_7269.jpeg
