The 6UM

She’s a shooter. Fire form loads with 108eldm’s and 60gr of 570 averaged 2768 with an sd of 28.9. 2 shots to get dialed in, then an 8 round group. Hoping 3200-3300 is gonna be doable, but FF loads are definitely slower than I expected. Was able to stay on target at 100 zoomed to 14x. Ace/unknown did an excellent job on this prefit.

Also, officially changing my name to Tx_6um.

You're using 60gr powder, max is 67-68(fire formed). Of course you're going to be slow. Some your pressure is lost blowing the shoulder forward.
That’s fair. This is my first time fire forming brass and thought I’d be closer to 3k than I am.

Does anyone have QuickDESIGN and can build this for those of us with QuickLOAD?
Using a 6.5 RSAUM spec'd to .243 doesn't work. khuber84s 68 gr recommendation would run a Pmax of 69,570. Some of the other loads people are reporting 3,250fps+ are mid 70-80k Pmax and estimating under 2900fps.

You can do it in GRT.

I just use cheap 6mm bullets to FF. I’ve used 4831, 7828 and h1000. All around 55-58 grains

I have used 300 SAUM imp, 7 SAUM and the FA universal seating die.
My rifle left UM today so, time to load some bullets for fireforming. Any preference of these 3 powders? I've got an 8 pound container of all of them and also Retumbo. I'll use 105-107 bullets for fireforming.

Start with N570.
If you don't have it find it.
It's been proven many times to he the go to powder in the 6UM.

Use what ever you have for Fire forming though

Is there any info on 30* vs 40* shoulder for velocity?

I have N570, but I don’t think it’s the best choice for fireforming.

I have a good selection of powders for fireforming, just asking what you would use if you had them all. One or another might be better at forming the case, give better accuracy, or get better velocity.

It doesn't matter; make sure you jam the bullet into the lands a little so the shoulder expands well.

For fire forming use what ever you have the most of or that you don't use in other rifles. Personally I don't care about accuracy I just use those shots to practice trigger pull and other things and not worry about accuracy.

I have a .243 AI that shoots .5 moa fireforming so no reason to not believe the you can’t get that kind of accuracy out of the UM. Fireforming loads are great for predator hunting if you want to have some fun while you’re doing it.

I agree. It's nice but I don't load for it or worry about it. Often time a well biult rifle will shoot plenty good enough to hunt and target practice with. Usually I just go to the range and fire form a bunch and get a load worked up then go hunting.
