The 22 creedmoor thread

I think the good group this morning was just a statistical fluke.

I shot again to see if there was a speed difference for @The Guide. There might be.

I didn't pull and jam but I shot my 2.680 ammo and then some 2.650 ammo.

Take it with a grain of salt though because some of my brass is toast after this firing but the results line up with what I've been seeing all along.

Its a kick in the pants because PVA is marketing their 22 creedmoor chamber to be superior and ideal for longer bullets and they cost a lot more than their competitors. I'm going to shoot some deer with these 88's and then finish the barrel with 77gr TMK.
Have you shot any 88s with non bootleg brass? I wonder if the brass is causing you uncosidered/unseen issues? The case head separation would have me concerned about the headspace of the chamber but I'm sure you've done your due diligence.

I shot some professionally loaded 88s in new brass and got a mediocre group a couple pages back.

The case head failures are from when I first started loading 22 creed the die was set too short. Some of those cases probably have 15 firings with an FL sizing each time too.

Just trying to cover all the bases. Like ya said, some barrels/chambers just don't like some bullets no matter what you do to make it work.

We tried the 80 eldx/m and 88’s, and the mead 85 bthp in my dad’s tikka 22-250 that was re chambered to 22cm. The best 10 shot group we got was around 1 1/2” but most were 2-3 1/2”. Any bullet we’ve tried under 80gr has shot much better and been more in the 3/4-1/14”. It’s only getting 77tmk’s moving forward. Fighting it is a waste of our time.

We have noticed this barrel doesn’t shoot great at higher velocities. Almost every bullet we’ve tested has shot better at lower than average velocity for each bullet.
