Though, I thought it was less about "tell us what you think about e-bikes for hunting" and more about "tell us why you don't own an e-bike for hunting so we can better market/design them"?
Agreed. In my mind their best hope is to market quiet operation. It's the only advantage they have over motorcycles.

Your asking what we think of E-bikes for hunting, really. I'm a little perplexed here. I thought we weren't allowed to be honest here???

Seems to me e bike hunters completely ignore closed roads in my experience, so it that regard they suck! I thought about one for New Mexico being there are roads everywhere most places, but how do you charge it after a day or two of use?

That’s just an emotional response though, horses are tradition so they get a pass type of reasoning.

I don’t even own horses or hunt with them but I totally disagree with you. Areas that are restricted are that way for a reason. If you start bending those rules where do you stop? Allow peddle bikes only, then well ebikes are okey. Heck let’s let dirt bikes behind these gates next thing you know atvs and utvs are in the wilderness. Horses are year round work. People that use them to go places your bike is not allowed in my opinion worked their butt off to get their. I’ve hunted a lot of places if an ebike were legal my life would have been easier. However I would probably have a lot more competition from the lazy hunters.

As the survey sponsor, we'd greatly appreciate if you'd express those questions and concerns in the survey. Visit it directly at gforcesurvey.com and thank you for responding in this thread either way.

I rode one a little when they were a gray area here, now there isn’t much use for them… if they were legal to use, they would be in the onX category for me… super useful, but everyone would use them so it would hinder me more than help… I kinda rely on hard to get to places and if everyone had e bikes, that would make it harder for me (mainly blacktail, elk wouldn’t matter)

I remember a buddy and I hunted an area one morning that was mostly uphill and we made it about 7.5 miles up and back and never even getting tired legs… felt like cheating in a way.

I’m glad they are considered motorized, but if they were allowed, I would certainly own one… like the onX reference… I use the heck out of it, and appreciate its usefulness, but would happily give it up if others had to as well…

On a couple of the hunts I have applied for boots and E bikes are the only form of transportation allowed, so there’s that.

edit: I guess they probably allow regular bicycles, but peddling a bike several miles in triple digit weather isn’t exactly a recipe for success.

Oh I know, have owned horses and hunted off them but they do way more damage to the forests then a bicycle ever will even if it has electric, last I looked they already have limits in place for motor size maximums, they could add other limiting aspects such as tire size and a pedal directly connected to the drive train which would then remove motorcycles, golf carts, atv’s, jeeps, utv’s barbie trucks etc.

I don’t own an ebike and who knows if I ever will, can’t see one working where I hunt anyway.

Camp in a non-motorized area last year, very common horse camp setup, just have to pack everything out and scatter the logs around to look natural.

The problem with any electrical vehicle is battery storage.

Battery technology has a ways to go.

I was watching a video on YouTube where two hunters had ebikes. They spent more time phuuuccking with solar panels charging the batteries, after running out of power, than using the bikes.

Judging their reaction, they were trying to put a positive spin on it, as obviously they were sponsored by the ebike company.

One of the bikes battery wasn't holding a charge.

They were bear hunting in mtns.

Not impressed at all. Basically the range sucked from what I could tell.

I'll stick to my kawi teryx
