Curious as to what the current favorites are for hunting-focused e-bikes. I like the idea of an internally geared hub (IGH) vs. a derailleur as it seems less likely to have issues when biking through the woods. I appreciate they tend to be more expensive, but I am OK with the cost.

I've seen a number of threads noting that bikes focusing on the hunting community (e.g., Quietkat, Bakcou, Rambo, etc.) may not use the same quality of components as other brands that have a comparable (or even lesser) price point. Is that the sentiment here?

While I can certainly assemble a new bike out of the box, I am not savvy enough to build one from the ground up.

Appreciate all the help!

I use a Surron light bee to get around my woods and into my stand quietly. It's basically a small electric dirt bike with great suspension and components compared to those brands listed. I spent $4400 on mine. It’s a blast to ride trails in the off season too. Max speed 51 mph on flat ground. Battery lasts forever. I can ride trails all day long

I guess not really an answer to your question but might be another avenue to explore.

ERide Pro SS 3.0: similar concept as above, but a bit more power I guess (64mph top speed). Battery life is great and I'm working on making it street legal. Downside vs traditional e-bikes is that you have to stick to single track trails because of the power it has. Can't ride your normal Bike Trails, although seems like most states are limiting pedal ebikes as well.

For me, it replaces a Honda Crf250f I was riding on my hunts. Quieter, less maintenance, and easier on the trails with it being so light. More opportunity to 'sneak in' on animals.

The surron light and Eride look like they would be fun, only down side with them is they are twice as much as an Ebike.

If you like a project, you can get a lot more bike for your money if you do a build. I recommend buying a used bike that someone else has already made YouTube videos about converting. I think you run into issues with certain bikes. There is a guy who put up a ton of videos about converting a Specialized Fatboy, which I picked up used for $600. I heard Bafang was going to stop making the bbshd. If you can still find one they are bullet proof.
My good deed for the day is to strongly advise against the trailer pictured in the bottom photo. I had unrealistically high expectations for it and could not sell that thing fast enough after my first trip with it. I took it on a dirt road high clearance vehicles could drive and tipped it over a dozen times. The last time made me wreck, and it took all of my will power to not just leave that piece of crap sitting on the side of the road for the next poor bastard to pick up.

Did you try the single wheel trailers that are out there specifically for bikes? I also seen a few folks run the normal child carriers. But I think theyre a bit wider.

I discovered I can carry everything I need in the side panniers and my pack. I have not pulled a single wheeler. I could see it being better than the double, but my last experience turned me off to pulling any sort of trailer with a bike.

Have you tried with an elk or mule deer quarter in each bag?

I just ordered a used E-bike from Upway.co and using the rear rack with panniers to carry quarters sounds like it would work perfectly.

I think they would fit. Doing anything too technical or steep would be too adventurous for my blood with that much weight on the bike.

I'm actually buying mine specifically for archery season this fall. The tag I have has the roads run on the ridges and the elk will be in the draws. I think for location bugling at night and being able to move quickly if I need to it will be perfect. My camper is on the truck so I want to never have to move it while I'm there. So my usage will be FS and BLM roads. That and it will be awesome for spring bear on logging roads.

The ebike does have a lot of advantages. I bought a crf250f as well because it is a lot easier to pour more gas in the tank than recharge batteries or have multiple batteries. I like both bikes.

I bought a Himiway Cobra. They state 80 mile range and it seems all the reviews are saying 65+ miles so I think it will be perfect on batter capacity with the 960WH battery. I run a popup camper on the truck with 200 watts of solar and a LiOn battery bank so I can get a pretty easy charge overnight if need be during a hunt.

I thought hard about a dirt bike but in the end once I found this one with the high range the quiet e-bike won me over.

I would encourage a look at the free sky brand on Amazon. Of course it’s Chinese but has the bafang motor, better specs than about anything out there, and a fraction of the price. Pick your model, but I haven’t found one person with a single bad thing to say, including myself.
