Tell me to shut up and buy the Tikka

Yuck. The biggest selling feature for me is the integral dovetail on a Tikka. Why would I want to add in an unnecessary joint that can slip?
I don’t know many that use the dovetail. All use the D&T mounts-ring mounts. I have a couple of Sako 85’s also, and while the dovetail works, it limits mounting options. (another rant) With the new Sako 90, Sako has gone to an integral pic rail. Times are changing

Cause you can't badmouth a Tikka...even though 90% of Tikka conversations are about what to change before you actually use them.
Better than trying to figure out why they won't shoot, feed, eject, or why the grooves in the bore aren't there or how to find a reliable and safe trigger!

You can say that again! Before I got mine, I thought for a while I had to commit prior to buying that I would jerk the barreled action out of the factory stock and drop it into an aftermarket stock.

UM rings with the expanded recoil pin location options help out a lot with that.
Talking about Tikka’s, so I don’t want to get fully into my Sako rant, but there are very few ring options out there for Sako dovetails. Unless you go with a rail, most popular direct dovetail options are the Optilocks (expensive, heavy, poorly designed) and Leupold rings. Personally, I prefer the Leupold due to their simplicity and weight. Both are generally fine for standard hunting scopes, but larger objectives-tactical scopes generally necessitate a rail. I can keep going, but talking Tikkas here

Tikkas sell themselves. Shouldn’t take much to convince you. Based on what you want, the CTR is the best way to spend your cash.
The SV is not worth the extra money.
Get the CTR, throw it in a bravo (or some other aluminum chassis/stock), done deal. You’d be farther ahead for less money than the SV

If directed towards me, I am a big fan of Tikka/Sako. Own several. Primary reason I went with the Howa mini was to try something new and recommendations from others. Cost also, but didn’t anticipate some issues that increased my basis. Not displeased with the Howa, time will tell.

Major Tikka complaint is the universal the long action. Not a huge deal with .308 length cartridges, but bothers me on a .223. As I originally stated, would probably just buy a Tikka if I had a do over. Especially like the .223 Ranch.
