I'd be in for a couple sets

I already chimed in and will purchase 3 sets. Just a thought ... this thread would seem like a list of day one (or even before) sales. If you had to purchase more, you'd surely get post-day one sales here in the classifieds, or over on eBay. I would also think that positive reviews here would also spread to other forums and drive folks to you. Heck, I volunteer to pay full retail for my 3 pairs and write a detailed review with pics.Bumping this to keep the interest going.
I just spoke to the manufacturer again, and they couldn’t reduce the minimum order quantity any more. There’s quite a bit of interest shown here, but nowhere near enough to be able to sell a full run. At this point it’s not even about price, just the overall demand.
The manufacturer I’ve been talking to is Kenton industries who actually makes the turrets for SWFA. It sounds like they don’t have any design control, but I told them about the SWFA interest on rokslide, and will send them this thread so they are aware and can follow it.
So, if you still want a set of these keep adding to this thread and maybe send a message to Kenton Industries expressing interest.
Id be in it for both - 2 pairs totalI’ve been communicating with a company about making a low-profile turret option for the SWFA 3-9. Something as short as possible, with no wider ridged section, aluminum, anodized black, and laser etched for MILS. This is the picture I gave to them for a rough approximation of overall shape.

It will also be a fully reversible change , as the low-profile turret will be able to be removed and replaced with the stock turret. Windage and elevation will both be available, and able to be purchased separately if you only want one. We have worked out a rough price point - I’m not going to disclose it yet in case it changes, but it should be comparable to other custom turret options.
I want to be clear, this thread is simply to gauge the interest and see how many potential customers there would be. I don’t have any prototypes, there will be no presale, this is very early stage. The company is currently working on getting me the lowest possible minimum order quantity. As a private party, there’s a decent chance I won’t be able to meet that MOQ - then at least I can show this thread to the company in hopes that they will produce the turrets anyway.
So, who would be interested in a low-profile turret for the SWFA 3-9? And let me know how you would buy: set of both, just elevation turret, or only windage turret.
Any news or updates on this front?
Good question. After determining that I couldn’t make this work myself I decided to try and kick the project to a small business to keep it going. I contacted @hereinaz at LS Wild and he said he was interested. He was going to look at the numbers and put up a poll to gauge interest at the specific price he anticipated selling the turrets for.
I have not heard anything since, but I would imagine he’s pretty busy with the CBK, barrel orders, etc.
Wouldn’t efforts be better spent convincing the manufacturer that this should be done at the OEM level? Theres zero reason for those turrets being so tall. One of my biggest pet peeves is having to fix things in the aftermarket that the manufacturer should have done properly from the start.Good question. Like having to remove my front bumper, cut holes in it and spend a day installing recovery hooks on my new Tundra 4x4…
I fully agree, it’s pissing up a rope, but it’s still frustrating. And I know they don’t actually manufacture them, I was referring to LOW. Those turrets/caps are just ridiculous and unnecessary on most all their scopes, not just one model. It’s the reason why I have bought a couple of SWFA scopes (3x9 and 6x) thinking I could make em work, and then sold them both without even mounting them. I don’t know what’s worse, the huge turrets or SWFA’s inventory management. How’d your discussion go with Toyota?
SWFA sells out all the time and they don’t actually make the scopes. They definitely aren’t going to pay a fabrication shop in the US to make the scope caps for one model of their scopes.
