First off, I agree with everyone else. Why not name the outfitter and owner??? Then when someone goes to do the research that you expect them to, it will show up in a search. I don’t understand why you would want to make things harder for the next person.

Also, I believe you can notify WSF, GCSO, etc… and if this outfitter is advertising through them or buying a booth at their conventions, they will be banned for poor practices.

Just my two cents for what it’s worth, but I have found it nice to be able to come to this forum and search an outfit by name and be gifted with multiple sources of information.

Absolutely a waste of time to not name the Outfitter.
If this is BC, have you contacted the GOABC?
There are truly some Bad outfits out there, but there are also some fantastic outfits.
Sheep have become the Goal for old and new hunters alike. Brand new hunters immediately chasing Sheep has created a Race to the Rams in many areas.
Yes to do your homework is important. But just because you can spend upwards and beyond $60,000 US on these hunts doesn't guarantee you a Ram.
As a resident of BC I would never pay such a price, and if I am able, Outfitters area or not I will continue to do all I can to get into Rams.
Nothing more satisfying then shooting a Good Ram under an outfitter and clients nose.
Been there, done it. It's very gratifying, just like it is for the guides to win the race for a client over a resident.
The talk of Sheep going all Limited entry is real, and, if there's that much demand by resident hunters, then maybe there shouldn't be NR hunting at all for Sheep.
Reputation for a GO is Huge.
It appears your not willing to share the Outfits name. That's a shame, because they don't deserve to be in business with all the lies you were told.
Buyer beware.
Yet you ARE complaining when you say your not.

I really have held back. I was going to post my stories from ‘22.
I’m honestly surprised that no one has mentioned them yet. There has to be no less than a hundred people who know who I’m talking about and dozens of disgruntled hunters from the last couple of years.
Another hunter paid for a 1x1 hunt and was forced to do a 3x1. He also had to pay to come back and paid half of the asking price just to come back. He’s even more upset than me.
Again, I don’t know the laws on slander. I’ll bet my life on everything I’ve disclosed. I am happy to share the outfits name for those seriously interested in a stone hunt.

I agree! I Love it when a resident gets a ram in an outfitters area... especially THE ram they are after. Please post the name of the outfitter so Rambucsabillbul can go chase rams there! :)
Useless to post a story like to "help" future sheep hunters and not call the outfitter by name...

If what you say is factual then it is not slander. You are able to give a review as a consumer.

Making false accusations and publicly posting them as factual would be considered slander and/or defamation.

Guy in my office went on his stone hunt fall of 2022. Had a heck of a time, saw some rams but never got to even put one in his scope. I think he said he did like 200 foot miles. His guide went above and beyond. I can't remember who he used otherwise I would post it so everyone new a good one. I agree with above posts. We need to know the guide/outfitter/owner. It helps in the search process both within Rokslide and doing research for those guys/gals who can afford a stone hunt. I appreciate the story, but would appreciate the confidence in your story to post the name.

A little birdy told me it was Tuchodi
Doesnt match up with OPs comments. He said he booked with an outfitter who had been there for 20 yrs, but hunted with a different outfitter because two new outfitters came in over the span of 3 years.

Tuchodi says they have been there since 2005, so that doesn't track with the above:

I also think the terms owner, outfitter, and guide are getting interchanged/misused in the above, which further doesnt line up. The actual owners of the concessions are the Canadian govt last time I checked. It would be much simpler if the OP just started a thread that said "Tuchodi Outfitter Review", etc. or whoever it is. And then just go on with your story

“Once in a lifetime hunt”… but did it twice. So that’s not once in a lifetime hunt.

I’m with the crew in that names should be dropped, in a professional manner albeit.

This is Tuchodi.
I’ve heard several guys get boned.
The confusion is one guy may own the concession. But go through several others to actually run it.
So the guy who owns the permit may have it 20 years but have different guides or outfits running the program.
This isn’t the only Permit holder who has had problems in the last few years. Several of the old
Outfitters have sold out and new guys with little or no experience take over. The lucky ones keep a few of the veterans around long enough for the newbies to learn the unit.
So you can be aware, you can do your research
And due diligence and still get up there and get screwed.Changing hands is the biggest pucker factor.

The land is owned by the government. But The permit to hunt is sold to someone as a business permit. This is the business owner. The Business owner can then sub out the actual work duties to someone else.In this case called the Outfitter. You can have several outfitter running parts of a concession at different times. It can be a marry go round of people same as the guides.Who you book with now could be someone totally different by the time you get to hunt.

Sounds like a cluster F. Is this unique to BC? As I understand in the NWT, those concessions are held directly by the outfitters (Gana River, Arctic Red, Ravens Throat, MMO, etc.)

Dang. I thought Tuchodi was one of the better outfits...(not based on any personal experience!)
You really have to research these guys.

This situation is not unique to BC.
It just happens large percentage of old timers are retiring and selling out.
Just like you book a hunt with a Alaska outfitter and he retires but the new owners keep the old name.
Unless you know them personally how do you know who is who?
Happens every year. Because of the huge cost jumps with sheep people are paying much more attention.
