I’m headed to the Yukon for my first sheep hunt in August and I’m going to try and bring home every bit of meat possible (assuming I’m successful). I shot a Caribou in 2018 in Northwest Territories and brought meat back but was limited to 44lbs of meat. Not sure why that number but that’s what I was told. Has anyone got any suggestions on how to bring back more meat? Thought about shipping a 65qt yeti and just paying the crazy overages to bring it back. This is probably a once in a lifetime hunt for me and want to share it with everyone when I get home. Thanks.

Probably better off buying a cooler up there if youre successful and paying the overage charges. Walmart cooler will likely be fine in the hull of a plane vs a more expensive rotomold cooler.

If you are hunting with an outfitter I’d check the logistics. Normally they try to fly hunters out in groups of two or three. Same coming back out of the hunting area. So you might have a dead sheep 5 days ahead of when you can get back to a larger town. I brought back moose tenderloins almost 25 years ago and it cost a small fortune. If you can keep your meat cold enough and beat the cost it’s fine eating. Good luck!

We processed the entire ram and froze it after packing out of the backcountry.
We had a tote from Home Depot (black box/yellow lid), lined it with reflectix, and packed all of the meat in there with the cape and horns (also frozen). It was all still frozen solid when I picked it up from AK Air Cargo the next day.

I covered the box with frozen stickers, too.

I believe that cost me around $90 to get home. I brought the entire ram home with exception to a few packages for the guide.

I can’t even remember but I’m pretty sure I used the 50# insulated fish boxes and put the frozen meat in there. No issues.

These look like a great option. Lots of different brands on Amazon.
Any certain brand you have had good experience with?
Only off shore fishing -RELIABLE

Not sure skull cap would fit but any bone out meat should fit easy in 24x36
