I’ve been working on my stock by adding epoxy putty to increase grip/reduce length to trigger. I’m at 1.75ish depending on where you measure. I used this putty that ACE hardware sells. It’s fantastic. But you have to work fast as it’s hard as a rock in about 3-4 minutes. However you can rasp/file/sand in about 20 minutes. I then put a coat of Marine Tex over it. We’re trying to get as much inventory out before the hurricane hits on Wednesday so here’s some specials we’re running.
In stock Carbon blank barrels $599
In stock Carbon pre fit barrels $749
In stock steel barrels $300

Any carbon stock in stock $350 (you will have to call to place the order to get that pricing)

Call if you want something you don’t see listed in stock. We will go through the shelves and see if we can find it.
Is there any chance at still getting this deal on a carbon Tikka VG?

What’s the best way to add some grip on these without adding mass/circumference?

Can you stipple (either heat iron or a dremel bit) the carbon? I assume that’s a no no…. Is the only option a marine Tex coating type?

I have already sponge painted and clear coated the stock, that helped a little but it’s still slick.

I used a 'Granite effect' spray paint, then overcoated with regular spray paint, then three coats of matt clear coat. Have a look through my posts to see if you can find it - if not, let me know and I'll track it down. Post shows texture and steps of process.

Looking at these now. What is the difference between the standard and the linear models?

Just the trigger guard shape as described. Make sure to grab an extra shim pack while you’re at it. Handy for other stocks as well.

Final updated form aside from the magpul bipod that I stole from one of my 22’s.

Between moving to the stocky’s VG and chopping down to 16.5”/spiral fluting I successfully took it from 11.5lbs down to 9.6lbs minus the bipod. Very happy with it overall!

Here’s a comparison of an untouched VG and one with about 1/4+” of steel epoxy and epoxy texture. I have decent sized mitts but these grips are stupid long. Modified, it feels about perfect.

Also added some texture to the forearm. These sticks seem to be a great value at $400 if you’re willing to put some work in. The overall shape feels excellent and the Tikka versions inletting looks really good. IMG_2607.jpegIMG_2604.jpeg
