Stir the pot....Sasquatch

I'm not a believer, however, my father is. He claims he has had 2 encounters. He also spends his limited vacation time to go to a bigfoot convention in Kentucky every year.

I have also talked to a friend in Canada eh that claims he saw one about 15 years ago. Clear as day and they looked at each other for 2 minutes. His story was very telling and he was 100% sure.

When I was a kid we were at a fair, the Forest Service had a trailer set up for education on forests. One of the people in the trailer was joking about Bigfoot and my dad started to tell his story. The employee kicked everyone out of the trailer except my dad, and they talked for 20-30 minutes about bigfoot. Again, I'm not a believer until someone comes up with better proof instead of stories when they were drunk out in the woods.

Won't believe it until one is down...

Interesting enough, what kind of animal makes a sound that resembles a billy club hitting a big tree? Right before sundown in Medicine Bow NF, I'd hear random thunks like that and they'd be within 2-300 yards of one another.

That’s a good question, in the story I told on the first page there was a bit of that going on as well.

Where I live, all the native people believe in Bigfoot’s and lots of people have some interesting stories but yet no proof. They find giant neat type things made of sticks, trees snapped off really high while the trees around them are undisturbed, howling, tree thumping, foot prints in remote areas, even the occasional sighting.

Still a though, I think the fact that with all the people in the woods, trail cams, drones, radars etc we would have found aom thing by now.

Fun fact... 8 out of 10 folks who have been interviewed on live TV about the Tornader that just blew through town also have a confirmed Bigfoot sighting.

I remember bear hunting one year and finding a ring of trees that were snapped off. like big trees 8" DBH all in a circle. it was weird. no explanation...

There are many reports of hunters who've encountered a sasquatch including those hunters in a tree stand. Obviously, a body on a slab ends the discussion but let's remember there are mystical creatures that have only been recently proved to exist.

For years, there were stories of a massive monkey that hunted and killed lions and leopards and howled at the moon. Sure enough, the Bili ape was first seen in 2003 and it is a 5-6'+ ape. Massive, strong and a skilled hunter. That's only 15 years ago!

Chimpanzees are real, right? No chimpanzee fossilized remains were found until the Fall of 2004 when Dr Nina Jablonski found a few teeth in the Rift Valley of Africa. There should be hundreds of millions of remains of chimps, right?

Things are out there we can't always explain. Hundreds of Native American tribes across North America have spoken of sasquatches and did so at a time when they were isolated with no opportunity to talk with each other.

As far back as 1603, Samuel de Champlain presented accounts of "Gougou" encounters (sasquatch) as reported to him by Native Americans.

Are they real? I wouldn't be so quick to discount them.

What kind of game bags would a fella need to pack in to quarter up a squatch?.........asking for a friend.....

Okay, not my story, but my two brothers and a friend got a late start on a weekend hike, didn't get to their intended destination before dark, so after 30 minutes of hiking in the dark, decided to make camp for the night along a creek in a nice level area just below a large saddle, between two big valleys. They had been there for a couple of hours and were sitting around the campfire, when something just outside the fire light screamed at them. My brothers said that whatever it was had to be large (lung capacity) to make a sound so loud that they could feel it vibrating their ribcage and by the tone, it sounded angry. It screamed once, paused for a moment and then screamed at them again, followed by nothing, no sound of it leaving or anything. They said it was obvious that whatever it was, was not happy that they were there and voiced it's displeasure. They assume that it was traveling along the creek that they were camped near. Needless to say, they spent the next 2 or 3 hours awake, waiting to be attacked by whatever it was.

Anyone ever find a bear skeleton or decomposed bear? I never talked to anyone who had.

One late deer season in the hickory creek wilderness in Penna. I found a series of hemlock trees that were broken off up about ten foot. Trees were strung out about 80 yards. Best I could figure is that some bear cubs were playing and had climbed up and the trees broke of their weight.

I have watched black bears where I live walking on their hind legs for short distances.

So I just Wikipediaed the Bili ape. Long story short they get a pic of one from a poacher, 3 trips later they run into some live ones and confirm it. And it’s just a big chimpanzee. In the freaking Congo. Which is about 14 kabillion square miles. Not really comparing apples to apples here.

I went to basic training with a guy from Missoula MT, told me when they were in high school they’d get a cooler full of beer and a gorilla costume. Sit on the side of the road in the bushes and run across the road in front of cars.

Again, perception is reality.

I also know that a 3oz screech owl sounds like he weighs 1000 lbs and breaths fire when he cuts loose right above you in a tree stand. Ruin your britches make you debate having to turn in your man card when you realize it ain’t a T. rex.

Wasn't the first Bigfoot sighting about the same time Elvis "died"? I think I will set up a trail cam and put out some jelly doughnuts.
