Hot New Woods Defense Pistol

I believe this is generally true but I also wonder if there was a specific (popular) hard-cast that caused early trouble and led to this whole rule. I never had an issue with BB's hard cast 220's in mine but then again my G20 is also a former police service duty pistol and while not "shot out" yet at all, the bore's definitely not new. Maybe that helps - I'm no armorer. You might also mention BB's "dangerous game mono metal" option if he wants another option? I haven't tried them myself but I've heard good things...
Yeah, I bet it was soft lead SWC or home cast lead.....not true HARD CAST but saw a couple busted rigs from it....but who knows what the true story might be. People have a habit of blaming everything but themselves on these things...LOL

Most 45’s have pretty poor sectional density and lower velocity compared to heavy 10mm or 9mm loads and at a lower velocity which don’t make them the best penetrating options if bullet selection is equal. You really need to get over 250 gr 45 cal bullets to get into higher sectional density and 45 super velocities to get the same penetration as a 147 gr 9mm at 1200 or 220 gr 10mm at 1200 fps. 45’s tend to either compromise magazine capacity or ergonomics compared to 9mm.

45 ACP definitely works on bears with a good hit but it’s not optimized compared to heavy 9mm or 10mm ballistically. The upside is you get to yell “two world wars” and get the AARP discount at Cracker Barrel when you buy a 45 acp pistol.

An 1100FPS 9mm +P has about 395 ftlbs energy.....a 925 FPS +P 45 ACP has 484 ftlbs energy. All being said I will stick with my 45ACP in semi auto over any 9mm...even if you call it a "heavy" 9mm haha.
As far as the two world wars...not sure where that came from as I wasnt born in either of them or the Korean war. I have seen what a +P 45 ACP or a 45 Super will do to a 300 lb boar hog through both shoulders.....and know it has no issues penetrating properly with a 255gr hard cast bullet....from Buffalo Boar or Underwood.
What sectional density charts are you reviewing...my data shows a 255gr 45 acp having 0.179 while a 9mm 147gr has 0.167 sectional density. I could not find any heavier 9mm +P loads.
That is great thing about America...you can take your 9mm and 10mm out on hunts...and I can take my 45 ACP +P, 454 Casull, and 45 Colt +P. Have a good day....thanks for making me look up the SD and energy comparisons of 9mm and 45 ACP for hard cast +P ammunition.
