Big changes proposed to S.D. pheasant season

PIERRE, S.D. (KELO) — Some substantial changes might be coming for South Dakota’s main season for hunting pheasants.

Suspect most changes will pass.I like the 10AM start a lot.Easier to predict bird locations and often much easier on dogs in hot weather.

I see that as a great idea. Less roosters in the winter is better for the hens as they will kill them in hard winters . Plus most people are done hunting and will give residents even more opportunities. I will say this if you have never been on a late season pheasant hunt the weather can be brutal and the birds wary but seeing a couple thousand flush at one time is a site worth seeing. I have had some guys out who forgot to shoot and just watched them all fly they were so mesmerized haha
