Small hot tents

I have a kifaru 8 man tipi and an Argali yukon. For truck camping, they are awesome. It is literally game changing to be able to sit comfortably and eat dinner by a nice warm stove. (It is also extremely nice to be able to stand up to get dressed in the morning).

But what about hot tents for spike camp??

I'm thinking of something like a Cimeron or Absaroka. It seems claustrophobic and that you would be hugging your wood stove. And it also seems that your tent would get extremely hot for an extremely short period of time.

It is really worth the weight to carry a wood stove with a little shelter?

I have a seek 4 man and wouldn’t hesitate to pack it in if I had to. I think tent and stove would be like 6-7 lbs, double the weight of a 3 man tent… but it’s giant as a 1 man and you get a stove, if you have two dudes then split the load and it’s no biggie

I've had a kifaru 8 man tipi for years.
I recently bought an Argali Yukon.

I love having a large, warm, dry tent to relax in the evenings.

I'm considering an Argali 4p hot tent and wood stove. I would use this tent for spike camps.

But I wonder if it is really worth it. It seems that the tent would get too hot too fast. And I would already be laying in our near my sleeping bag since the tent is too small to sit up.

So... are little hot tents really worth the hassle and weight of bringing a stove??

I have a three man tipi that I have run a stove in.

It was great for just me on a cot and the stove. I also used it for a night with my lady and the stove. That was pretty claustrophobic...

It is basically like you said, hot for a short period. It was plenty of space for one though.

I've never regretted packing in my Seek Outside Cimarron. You could look at the Guardian or the new Silex XL also made by Seek Outside.

Through the decades I’ve run many setups and if it is raining or freezing temps the stove is coming along. Best advise, size up on the stove. Currently running a Redcliff and Cimarron Dyneema. These little tents are

Depends on a lot of factors, but generally I don't pack a stove unless I'm below treeline and there's rain in the forecast or for later season with a buddy. August / september it's light out for so long and too warm anyways. Even in October I'm usually gassed by the end of the day and just want to go to sleep without the fuss of fueling a fire.

With that being said I do keep a Sawtooth and stove in the truck if hunting November and staying out.
