Full disclosure, I’ve been a Spott Hogg user for almost 20 years but thought I’d try the UV slider 3 pin vertical. Here are my thoughts after a couple months or so using the UV. I’ve had the Boonie for over a year and the fast Eddie before that.

Ultraview Cons
Sight tapes are more condensed making it harder for my old eyes to see in between distances!
Can’t get sight up enough for 20 yard pin.top pin is at 20.5. Needs more rail adjustment
Sight tapes only go to about 109 yards
Sight tapes on sides of rail seems to be less intuitive than on the dial. Maybe just need more time with the sight.
Housing is 1/8” bigger than the Boonie 2 pin vertical causing it to be more finicky to being out of alignment no in or out adjustment on the dovetail.
No adjustment for individual pins
Only one size pin available
Didn’t come with indicators for other pins had to order them?

Ultraview Pros
Looks nice
Smooth operation
Nice sight picture
Easy adjustments
So far axis’s are staying in place and easily set up
Pins are nice size doesn’t seem to be too big
Comes with light but I never use them
Metal sight tapes can be purchased

Spott Hogg Pros
Easy to read sight tapes had to purchase long range tapes
Super solid, axis’s have never moved and easily set
Peep sight to housing alignment is perfect
3 pin vertical head all pins are adjustable
Has MRT rings for peep alignment
Easy adjustments
Smooth operating dial lock and sight tape placement are intuitive without much movement to dial.
More than enough adjustment on sight rail. Sight tape goes from 15 yards to 120 easily before running into fletching contact
.010 pins are available
Super adjustable to fit anyone’s needs
Rugged. Looks industrial but practical

At the end of the day the UV is a super nice sight, more fancy than others which if your the person who likes fancy over rugged then this is the one. For an extra $200 the UV has less range adjustment. I’m still tinkering with the UV but will probably stick with my trusted Spott Hogg.

Thanks for the review. Been thinking about getting a Boonie with the 3 horizontal pins.

I’m a longtime fast Eddie user that got a used Original Slider to mess with. I like the wheel/lock mechanism much better on the slider than the FE. It’s way faster and easier to dial-lock. I like the built in light on the UV. I like that it is simpler and has less brackets/open gears. I do not like that all th sight tapes and metal sight tape holders are out of stock on UVs website so I can’t get the correct tape at this current time. And I can’t utilize the second tape function. My FE is currently back at Spot Hogg getting a once-over and a rattle fixed after 9 years of use. Overall I think they are both great sights but I’m considering lettting the UV go and looking for a dialed Pruf with the new adjustable pin housing.

You didn’t list the cons of the SH.

I used a fast Eddie this year after years of using a BG mountain lite.
I think im going back to the BG.

Like I said I’m slightly biased towards the Boonie, I really don’t have any cons for it. Everything is functional and in the right place for me not to mention rugged and completely adjustable for any person or bow setup.

Fair enough. I think I'm biased towards the BG because of the sight housing I got for my SH. If it was the 3 vertical pins I may have liked it better but I have no idea why anyone likes the one you have to adjust your left and right every time you adjust your vertical.

I’ve shot a spot Hogg for years and adjusting the horizontal pins is still a pain in the butt. I really wish I could mount a 3 pin axcel head on a boonie

You move them up or down, you have to move them left or right. You move them left or right, you have to move them up or down.
I don’t know how they stayed in business with something that’s such a pain to sight in.

Because they have been the most durable sights made for a long time, and were a company that often brought new things to the market, micro windage, dovetail bases adjustable stacked 3 pin, and in general people set their sights and it’s good until the need a new bow or strings.

I will say I can’t stand their new pin housings and how massive they are.

Scored a boonie on AT, next week I plan to configure a Dark Owl Stealth 41 to go on it. THAT might be the ultimate sight for hunting, but I won’t know til it gets here. IMO I agree on the Triple Stack housing being too big/heavy. The Dark Owl checks a lot of boxes that the UV leaves to be desired. I can get my pin gaps waaaayyyy more usable is the biggest. I like both brands, ultimately. Almost makes me want setup a second bow 😂
