SKRE Complete Review (+ Giveaway!!!), by Travis Bertrand

Up sized to 2xl for hardscrabble jacket so I could layer into later seasons. Sorry nothing to compare to this is my first soft shell in a long time, but I could see a bunch of benefits to using one if not backpacking in.

I'll be taking this on backpack hunts for sure. Critical component to layering if you ask me.

I've mainly focused on archery hunting (have to choose one season in Utah) which is typically pretty early so a puffy and rain shell is my current system. I don't have much experience packing in late season which is probably why I don't know all the benefits of a soft shell. Hopefully this year I'll draw my 4th season tag for Colorado and get to try some new things out.

Ordered the 2xl and it feels like it layers under the 2x hardscrabble jacket perfectly.

Not a big deal to me but the stuff sack had a bunch of fringe material where the sack joined the draw string I cleaned it up quick by carefully melting them with a lighter. Not sure what this piece was in the stuff sack but it pulled out when I cinched the sack for a picture. Seems non essential to the sacks function guess time will tell

On the jacket itself seems to have top quality construction.

Waist draw pulls and added fleece where the zipper could contact your face. Only essential features added to keep wieght to a minimum.

This is probably the best real-time review on Rokslide. Thanks for all the effort Sam. I'm color-blind so not the best judge of camo (though some argue it is better) but looks good on hill to me. Definitely not a dark blob to my eyes

Sorry for the noob question but the camo in the pic seems more brown/tan compared to the website. Did they change pattern colors a little or is that how it actually looks in real life

We have had a few bad stuff sacks. If you are one of the unlucky few, please let us know and we will send you a new one at no charge. Thanks, Mike Nielson

One challenge with dye sublimation is that color will transfer "differently" across the spectrum of fabrics. The Ptarmigan down jacket transfers over with a little more brown than our other pieces. Overall, we get each piece to match as closely as possible before going to production. This is a challenge for every camo company, where a multitude of fabrics are utilized in a layering system.

Thanks Mike for chiming in. For me I didn't find it a big deal and seems to be functional as a stuff sack. I've been slacking on getting out but I've been babysitting the kiddos while my wife is enjoying a beach in Mexico. I'm hopeful to cash in these bonus points when fall rolls around.

Just got in a good sized order of Skre. I have only tried it on but I am hoping to put it to the test in a couple weeks. Everything seems really well made. The Hardscrabble is going to be a great go to all around jacket it seems.
